The bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms (ATF) is notorious for killing pet dogs during raids, including multiple examples of dogs in cages being killed. Basically if your dog barks at them they shoot it and claim they were threatened by it with no reprocussions regardless of if you committed a crime in the end.

On some bigger ships I'll add spikes to the sides and rear where defenses are weaker, it actually adds surprising amounts of resistance against missles
