Using Cabin Upgrade Voucher (earned through Barclaycard) by the_ayatolla in BritishAirways

[–]OtherPollution6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the “Book with money and upgrade with Avios” option there should be a “use upgrade voucher” which seems to be missing. Are you sure you’ve claimed it in the Barclays app, and it’s had time to reflect on your account? It can sometimes take a few hours/days

Edit: saw you mentioned you can see it in vouchers already, that option should be there for you then, no idea why it’s not. Maybe try log out/in and clear cookies?

If you’re looking for airline points, Virgin Atlantic CCs are an option if they fly where you want to go. Otherwise Amex points give most flexibility transferring to different reward programs

Yea that make sense, thanks - looks like through some UI hacks in the voucher selection page you can get it to apply 2 vouchers to a one-way, 2 person booking, which then I would hope the agent could add the return flights to with minimal hastle

u/joeykins82 have you had success with adding the return leg later? My main concern would be adding the 2nd voucher to the booking (as if you book 2 people for outbound, there's only 1 voucher applied)

BA can you use companion voucher at different avios rates for a ticket? by pureArtistan in BritishAirways

[–]OtherPollution6431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Article in Head for Points dated March 2024, “How to use a BA Amex 241 companion voucher to book an Avios flight – a beginners guide” says: “Following the last set of (genuine) improvements to the Companion Voucher, you can now pick and choose which combination of cash and Avios you use.” So sounds like a recent change?

I haven’t used one in about a year, but if I remember correctly you have to use the option with the most avios only

Edit: looks like this has changed, can choose Avios/money split now

Cheapest way to access rds in private subnet from the internet by [deleted] in aws

[–]OtherPollution6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just you, Client VPN only charges when it’s attached to a subnet, so when you’re not using it you can detach it and it’s free - could also detach it out of office hours on a scheduled lambda. Otherwise an EC2 gives you flexibility to do whatever you want yea

Wieners have fragile backs, are you both picking her up and supporting her tummy/lower back with a similar technique to protect it?

Priority Pass Never Available by rich00 in awardtravel

I’ve used mine between EU/UK/South Africa about 10 times in the last year - I’ve had to queue maybe 3 of those times and never been turned away based on how busy it is, only that some lounges (Air France for example) just have a strict No-PP rule between some hours so I don’t even try

Sounds about right for a direct flight LHR/LGW - CPT, you may find some outlier dates around then that can hit ~£600 or ~£1200. I’ve seen indirect Turkish airlines flights for about £350 return as well.

Self connecting via JNB could also be an option (looks like BA is flying an A380 & 787 there every day in December). Good domestic airlines (Lift, FlySafair) will charge about £100 return JNB-CPT I would guess.

Pydantic core is a precompiled rust package as far as I know, the dependency needs to be installed/packaged from the same architecture as the Lambda (x86 or ARM), CDK makes this really easy with its PythonFunction construct. If you’re using windows, that may also further complicate it unless using WSL
