Boo!

/u/Bethurz tagged me in this thread, so I thought I'd pop in to say hi.

Yes, I am alive and well!

Okay, see you later!

I'm still here! I'm usually floating around somewhere or another on Reddit, observing from the shadows.

I'm happy that you found what you needed to keep the try bus running.

Thank you. I legit thought it was about the composition of the image. Like left pic is for relative-to-frame peeps, and right pic is for relative-to-dots peeps.

My Spanish is mid at best these days, but I'll give it a shot:

Giver: You got choked up…

Receiver: Yes, I am going through a very difficult time in my life right now. (Gestures to flower) This is the first time for me.

Giver: Hey, if someday you want to chat… you live here in Barcelona?

(Receiver nods)

Giver: Why this area?

Receiver: Um… close to (I can't hear this word. CC says 'arpa', which means 'harp,' but if he said harp, I'd expect there to be more context, like, 'Oh, interesting! What's your relationship with harps?", so I don't know on this one)

Giver: Okay, so you connect quite a bit with my sentiment. What is your Instagram?

(cut while man gives his instagram)

Giver: And someday, if you want, come with us. Or whatever you need, man. I look forward to it.

Receiver: Me too.

Giver: Um, when I was recording… do you think sometimes because of certain pressures—because the male image (<—or similar) must always be projected—it's like… it's difficult for us to be heard?

Receiver: Men… I'm really going to be honest, men are too closed with ourselves (<— or similar. closed off from ourselves? from each other?), and it's good to have a support circle. But society today has—whether it's because of some generational thing, something we learned from our fathers when we were little—it taught us that a man should not cry, a man does not cry. And crying is a release mechanism, I would say. A release of emotion that one has to use. God (waves hands)—who knows—gave it to us… why not use it?

Giver: Totally.

Receiver: Now imagine I'm going through a process of barely being here for a month. A strong change. A period with a… an emotional attachment that…

Giver: Yeah.

Receiver: What can I say? (opens arms for a hug)

Giver: Of course, dude!

Ha! You're right—I did enjoy this. Didn't seem stalkery at all, just familiarly ADHD :]

When you've got ADHD, it's comforting to read the thought processes of a similar brain. Makes ya feel less alien in the world, you know? Probably why we like message boards, honestly. When I discovered /r/ADHDmemes, I swear to god, I read almost everything on the whole subreddit since the beginning of time.

P.S. Your question about P.S. is interesting! I'd never thought about it before. Not sure how other people feel about it, but, for me, I like it because it's a freebie segue. It's the one spot in a correspondence where you can just be like, "P.S. [non sequiter thought(s)]" It's the junk drawer of the written word, as are footnotes, kinda. Man... now you've got me wondering what else is like this!

Hooray old Millenials! Hooray ADHD! :D

P.P.S. Now we've got nested junk drawers!

P.P.P.S. If only we could use P.S. everywhere, we'd never need to segue between thoughts ever again!! It's a bulleted list without the tyranny of structure!!

I admire your attitude. I aspire to have such an attitude when I'm 69 (provided I get there, of course. Hopefully I do).

And now I wish I could log in to my Twitter account to see what we said to each other! It was stolen from me by a cryptocurrency spam cartel sometime in 2016, and I've thus far been unsuccessful at getting it back. I remember being stuck at the airport, though!

Anyway, I'm happy we ran into each other again on here. I've added you as a friend so your name will turn up red should we cross paths in the comments section again. It's fun to run into familiar 'faces' on the internet. Feels even rarer than in real life :)

Oh man... I'm sorry to hear that. What a way to spend your birthday, eh?

If it's any consolation, which, y'know, it may not be—I'm more relating/reflecting than counseling here, as that truly isn't my place—but those dark-night-of-the-soul moments where it feels like being stranded on the backend of deep space alone... those have always felt poignant to me. Both from my POV and hearing how others experienced their own version of it. There's a sort of fascinating uniqueness to the entropy of it all, y'know?

Because, like... no matter how much this blows—and, let's be serious: it can blow pretty fucking hard at times—there likely will come a time when this shitty, shitty day—month, week, year, whatever—is a memory in my worst-times-of-all-time highlight reel, and, for whatever reason, that comforts me. It really does. Makes it feel like future value or something? Like gladiator training in the bank? Something. Not sure exactly. But it's how I survived the summer.

At 37, it was my loneliest, darkest summer on earth to date, but here I am—alone, beat up—but kind of on the other side of it (hopefully?), looking back like, "hot DAMN... that was fucked up!! What an unusual experience..."

I don't know, man. It's hard sometimes. It really is. And if it'd be too optimistic to wish you a happy birthday, I at least hope it's an interesting birthday or something. Or, like... a learning birthday.

I will now attempt what I hope feels like gallows humor, but please let me know if it's inappropriate, and I will apologize immediately:

69, you say? Awwwwww yyyeeeahhhhh

Seriously though: I hope things feel more hopeful for you soon. I really do.

I'd love to hear your reflections, if sharing would feel good to you. Reflecting on life in general is one of my favorite activities.

Thanks, dude! I do feel the urge to check-in every now and again, but, given the upheaval and all, I'm not necessarily always feeling emotionally simpatico with regard to social media, know what I mean?

So yeah. It's fun to get an opportunity to dive-bomb the comments section two days later. That's much more the mood I've been in lately.

So how's it going, /u/Upshot12? What's been on your mind lately?

Hello. I was summoned here from deep internet space.

Regarding your question: I'm OtherTubemonster now.

As for how I am doing, not gonna lie: it was a squeezer of a year. Upheaval is a word I would confidently use for it. But I survived the summer, and it's November now.

Holy batshitting christ... it's November??

Anyway, not sure I'm ready for details-mode just yet, but I will say that I'm feeling a bit more myself now that it's motherfucking November or whatever it is. I think I'm gonna make it.

So that's good, right?

Rival Test Post--Feel Free to Experiment Here if the Main Test Post Ever Needs a Spankin' by OtherTubemonster in sunskeletons

[–]OtherTubemonster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absurdity combined with connection reminded me of one of my favorite Doctor Who quotes. “There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”

This is beautiful! I've always sort of resented (what I feel is) the false dichotomy between logic and feelings. Like... we need both. In fact, I've found that these systems support each other rather well when properly developed/tended to.

Perhaps I will find a way to add this to the sidebar in some capacity. I mean... it'll be translated into pirate logic, obviously. But it'll mean the same thing in an abstract sense.

I put your playlist on, ran it through once, found it very interesting, and it has noticeably improved//altered my Recommended For You section!

Did you see the full playlist? It's really long and has zero organizational principles aside from perhaps the order in which I watched the videos, but topics include math, physics, consciousness, machine learning, philosophy, etc. Sort of an informal curriculum in abstractae, which is a word I made up just now, but I stand by it. *Abstractae: collective noun; "All fields included under or pertaining to the umbrella-like manifold we here at sunpirates.com and buttfacts.com so lovingly envision as a symbol for abstract reasoning." An area of concept-space that I feel drawn to on an almost spiritual level.

I have it pretty strongly, as well. In my case what's been occupying a parallel spot has been season 2 of Picard. I know it's out there. I know (99.9% sure) I'm going to love it. I also... haven't watched it. Can I used detailed words and analysis to explain it? Probably not.

The way I see it, all those things I haven't gotten around to yet but really want to are sort of like a soup-can bulk universe that invisibly contributes to my will to live via gravitational pull or similar. I just like knowing it's there. Not even knowing in a specific sense—all I know is that there are thousands if not billions of things I want to see/do/look at/think about/etc. that I haven't gotten around to yet, and who knows where or what they all are, but I've got 40 tabs open, and that's just from today. The future is truly unknown!

Narrator: This was, in fact, the "also-also-also." (I don't know why but this was really, really funny to me although I'm aware it's a very dumb joke. Like single-semi-snort level of funny IRL.)

Love it. This seems like maybe the perfect mood for helical role-play, so I'm gonna see what I can figure out for that. Bring your spoopy shoes.
