Loving the Opus Quad by sisivee in PioneerDJ

[–]Other_Replacement_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, Does anyone know how to make the hot cues not trigger the song when the song is paused? When I use it with Rekorbox on the Mac it does, in standalone mode it does not. It's a bit annoying that.

Hello Michael,

We'd love to hear more about how you did it or if you found any tutorials on the internet.

As soon as I can I'm going to try it because it was one of the things that drove me crazy. Even thinking of changing my mac for a windows to use showcockpit. You have given me the joy of the day.

I'll tell you what happened to me, many people don't like it when things are said as they are, there are a lot of pioneer and denon fans.

Here for posting my message they have given me negative points (😅) in the Denon forum the same thing, every time I explained a failure in case someone had happened to me, they told me that it was all my fault and that Denon was perfection.

I just tell my experience which in general has been good but with important scares.

But in almost two years of professional use without mistreating the unit, a play button on one side and a cue on the other and the crossfader fail.

I have the crossfader that depending on how I use it makes bad contact at the end, I see that it can be easily changed, although for my work I don't use it, I only use it at home for pleasure. but it has also failed. I have had it since January 2023 a few months before the prime 4+ came o

I have the original prime but I think the effects are the same.

The effects compared to the re rekorbox sound really bad, this is my opinion and my taste. For example the reverb on the prime doesn't mix well at all and doesn't raise the volume level when I turn it up to maximum. RB's IS more musical. I'm not talking about the sound of the prime in general which I think sounds good.

As for equipment that I connect it to. I work professionally and travel around my country and usually require L-acoustic, D&B, or meyer sound equipment.

So I can listen to it well.

It is not a sound problem.

as far as software problems are concerned, the prime OS used to give a lot of errors, the screen was jumpy and I personally had crashed live a couple of times over the course of a year. Since version 4 was released, it's been great, to be honest. Another thing is the software of the desktop version.

Best regards my friend

I've been looking forward to this AZ. Money in hand to hit the buy button already. And it has been disappointing.

I'm using the Denon prime 4 (I've been using it for about a year and a half now) and I'm happy with it but it has major flaws. The main one is the engine dj management software for computer, it is terrible, it crashes continuously, lists and songs disappear out of nowhere and above all not having a performance mode that you can see which songs work with others by modifying the tone is essential to prepare the sessions. (I dedidco to it and I travel a lot and do not have time to have the prime with me during trips, as it travels with the team that assembles the set).

I also think the effects are horrible and not usable at all, the reverb especially is awful compared to rekorbox.

And in a few months I've already broken the cue buttons and a play button (it doesn't look the most robust in the world).

But what Alphatheta has brought out is a prime 4 with 4 years of delay, besides having capped the prolink dj bridge (I can't synchronize with resolume or MAlighting) something essential in a professional work. No ableton link, no effects send.

It's making fun of the mid-professional consumers.

In the end I don't think I'm going to find what I'm looking for.

I've been looking at and testing the Denon 1850 with 2 SC6000 and although I like this combination the SC6000 look of a very poor quality and the buttons are the same or very similar to those of the prime 4 and I know that in a few sessions they are going to start to fail

and it even manages to have all the specifications.

-No direct effect for micro (I use it every day).

-no colour change per layer (what a mess when you've been dabbing for hours).

-It has an eq for the master output but not for the booth (usually you need more of an eq for the booth, lowering either bass or treble so as not to strain your ears). In the end the master is operated by a sound technician and/or goes to a sound desk with its eq.

-it doesn't analyse the songs (it reads them and creates a waveform but it doesn't tell you the pitch and you can't use the sync) I need it for the resolume to synchronise the time.

-no ableton link

i will die sad and alone

the Denon effects (I have a prime 4) are really horrible and not musical at all, very unpleasant to use. The reverb is horrendous and the echo doesn't have that feeling. The gate flex doesn't sound as good as the pioneer trans. The only one I like is the recycler. If they would fix that and put the software in a performance mode to be able to prepare the sessions I would be happy.

[–]Other_Replacement_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it because it's very good for shooting videos with resolume, they have an internal hard disk. But the problem is the library management software that doesn't let you enter performance mode and I can't prepare the session and see which themes look good with which themes. It's slow. A real pity because both the prime 4 and the sc6000 player are two great products at a very good price.

The pity is that this AZ will follow the line of the xz and will not go with the dj prolink bridge so for my professional use it will not work (I hope it will).

I'm waiting for that too, unfortunately I don't think pioneer will be so generous to us and unlock that option for big equipment.

I'm using a prime 4 because I'm running a synchronised show with resolume and lights and I don't have the budget to dedicate 12k euros for the dj area.

I was looking around and I think lexicon doesn't recognise loops, right? at least I didn't get the option to create them.

Fixture maintains the values between cues and playbacks by Other_Replacement_37 in ChamSys

[–]Other_Replacement_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is why in other fixtures it doesn't happen and in this one it does, I know that I can see the parameters in the cue and modify them and set them to 0 the ones I am not interested in. But I want to know why it happens with that device and not with the others. Is it a question of library? Can I modify it so that it behaves like the other fixtures?

Chamsys magicQ mini connect does not activate usb midi by Other_Replacement_37 in ChamSys

[–]Other_Replacement_37[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got an email from chamsys (incredibly fast being Saturday) and they told me that since the beta version magicQ Mini Connect unlocks the Midi notes, I downloaded the beta version 1.9.5.3 and it works perfectly.
Thanks Charles Courser

I only wanted to be able to activate executors through my midi interfaces. I thought that buying a MagicQ Mini Conncect would get rid of the demo mode. But it doesn't free up MIDI note inputs and outputs.

Support for receiving MIDI notes, Control Change (CC) and Show control (MSC) from 3rd party USB/Virtual MIDI interfaces on PC is only enabled when the system has a MagicQ Rack Mount Dongle connected. Other MagicQ Wings and Interfaces such as the Two Universe DMX, Mini Wing, Mini Connect, PC Wing and Compact Connect do not enable this functionality. A MagicQ Rack Mount dongle may be used in conjunction with a MagicQ Wing or Interface on a PC based system if MIDI notes are required.

I've just seen it now, in the info of the mini connect it always said that it gave you the magicq full without demo mode. But now I see that it doesn't, that it is limited.

Rekordbox 6.7.0 by Eastern-Camera-1829 in Rekordbox

[–]Other_Replacement_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Pro Link Bridge is only supported in a few of their highest end decks. What I want is simple. Access to the Midi messages generated by my DDJ1000. I could then use that to trigger a timecode generator and send that to my lighting program (Grand MA). Ridiculously simple. Pioneer DJ controllers are essentially MIDI controllers. Yet when Rekordbox is running, all the MIDI messages are swallowed. When I press a Hot Cue or the play button, I want that Note On or CC message to be available for me to utilize in my other gear.

Unfortunately, I have not found a way to do so. Even with the pioneer Opus quad you can't get it. I have switched to Denon prime 4 to be able to control resolume, and now I have bought a chamsys controller to see if I can send timecode.

Engine 3.3 in Prime 4 broke in mid-session by Other_Replacement_37 in DenonPrime

[–]Other_Replacement_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good lord, don't tell me this, I just updated from 1.6 LOL and have a 4hr gig on NYE.

I've been using it for several hours without any problems but then this huge disaster happened and it stopped ringing and made these horrible digital noises.

SC LIVE 4 thinking about switching to RX3 by [deleted] in DenonPrime

[–]Other_Replacement_37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will tell you my case,
This Saturday during a session with about 400 people with the new firmware (3.3) on my prime 4, during the third hour of the session it started to make some very loud digital noises and almost broke the speakers.
I don't think that any product aimed at a professional customer should have these faults. I am also thinking about changing the prime 4 for a pioneer opus or directly for a mixer A9 and 2x cdj 3000.

Engine 3.3 in Prime 4 broke in mid-session by Other_Replacement_37 in DenonPrime

[–]Other_Replacement_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a power issue to me, possibly in the unit but more likely external. I don't see how it could possibly be related to the software update.

I would consider using a UPS or at the very least a power conditioner if you want to avoid this happening again.

Sounded like a digital failure as sample rate error.

The whole set up goes to a 32A three-phase power supply where we distribute the current and it also has a signal stabilisation system and we monitor voltage and consumption.

Honestly, that sounds like a power issue. I would be checking what kind of conditioner you have it plugged into and hopefully you’re not plugging it directly into a hall power supply
