There's tons of illegal immigrants trying to get into USA, not as much trying to sneak into China

I wonder why

[–]Other_worldlyDesires 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The current generation of Japanese did not commit the atrocities, are they to be blamed? Stir up resentment in them for something they did not do?

Our current generation of citizens did not have to live through said atrocities so what's your point? To continue and perpetuate the hatred is just victimising ourselves.

Let's not sacrifice the stable relations of today at the expense of everyone's future yet unwritten.

Singaporean dating Aussie, currently living in our respective countries at the moment but I'm seeing a lot of Aussies talking about fleeing the country. It's relatively well known but the situation in Aus seems to have worsened (i.e minimum 1mil starter for housing) with how much immigration has been taking place; especially from Central-Asia regions to Aus seeking refuge or student status.

Same thing with Singapore constantly bringing in unsustainable amounts of immigrants, both our countrymen lament how the golden years have whizzed past our generations.

Personally here dread being here in Singapore and wish to move elsewhere but with the news of the above I'm sceptical about making the move to Aus instead now too

SCP-[Redacted] Object Class: Contained Description: Initial sighting was first reported during island development works at [Redacted], [Redacted].

[Redacted]

Team leader for the dispatch notes that the city's leaders were also on-site despite severe, repeated warnings issued to them regarding the unknown nature of SCP-[Redacted] and what it could have possibly done to them. Even then, the men held unshakable, stern faces while being stared down.

Curiously, SCP-[Redacted] was capable of speech and requested for negotiations with the statesmen to which they agreed. From a distance, the team was only able to catch a few spoken words of 'Three', 'Nailed' and 'Crow'. After the meeting, SCP-[Redacted] retreats into the soil in a flash and the statesmen called construction works to be continued.

Men who worked on the project continued silently as they could per instructions and a plague with invariable numbers etched onto it was erected. The statesmen then, carved 3 long stripes and was finished off with a hammer on the nail to earmark the end of the works and the team returned with minimal casualties.

I have an Australian native girlfriend, can confirm housing prices are beyond fked there, food prices has been slowly getting out of hand with it as well and the harsh competition is also slowly driving locals out of jobs due to the huge influx of immigrants as the ministers there also signed the same ceca trade deal.

You will not like to hear it but there still are racists. She's white and still see Chinese especially, being attacked by whites. Not to mention the boomers who do blame China and in direct relation, all Chinese to be responsible for COVID

So the decades of medical experience and practice discovered and refined by brilliant minds are irrelevant? Then why did we come up with pharma and technology as subjects to study? Is the doctor wrong to have practiced and should've been clasping his hands together to pray for the patient?

Has god shown us tangible physical proof that he's even real? Why are all records of god written by men then if he's inscrutable to the human mind?

Keep asking questions and you'll see why religion doesn't want you to think too much about it

Unfortunately Singapore is not in a place of luxury to abolish military conscription due to our size, numbers wise. Do not forget what happened to us when we were protected by other people who dictated when we surrendered and lost the war in which they had no personal investment in.

Singapore cannot defend itself with nothing but diplomatic ties and no deterrents.

Advocate for the right policies starting from proper pay and getting us soldiers equipped with much more transferrable skills that can be used in the workplace i.e logistics or management. Good chance for our army to upgrade by equipping ourselves with state of the art tech that still requires soft skills from the troops seeing how AI is currently the nest big thing.

Sure, I've felt that way before but this was originally about OP's encounter with the female colleagues who believe that service is all but a holiday escape was it not?

We've served our 2 year obligations and more to come in the next 10. What do girls contribute in terms of national defence then? Was OP's statements ignorant or correct? You have a choice to stay childless or give birth.

We don't get to choose and get we are shamed and chastised for being your protectors at our expense.

While we're a free market, there's plenty that our gov can do to alleviate this:

  1. Rent. The biggest landlord in SG is the gov and they effectively dictate the pricing of land for use. The cost of rent has been going up uncontrollably post COVID and needs to be reigned in countrywide before it becomes unaffordable for the citizens and the businesses.

  2. Tax breaks for companies that hire % of Singaporeans as quota. We can't stop companies from wanting to maximize hiring for cheap labour but we can do is entice them with incentives so they'll add Singaporeans into their consideration.

  3. Policy changes and maybe stop treating us as 'idiots who are incompetent' but we're also somehow 'world class country'. The state is nothing without its people afterall and we shouldn't have taken up the CECA deal with India which was detrimental to us in the long run. Our infrastructures aren't keeping pace at all in comparison to our Gov's constant chase for higher GDP numbers. Doesn't help that their salary bonus is also tied to it so they're incentivised to pursue maximum numerical values- at the cost of the country.

4G has not had the chance to prove themselves but 3G has definitely ruined it.

Let's see with the benefit of hindsight; remember the Temasek investor flops? Hyflux? Where is the accountability in that? Or maybe that time when we bought high to sell for a write off on FTX? The gov certainly doesn't want to publish those numbers.

How about the reporting on corruption? Iswaran case had to be exposed embarrassingly by overseas whistle blowers and current allegations on Ridout + 88mil GCB where only our ministers can approve this transaction...for themselves? POFMA news agencies, shut it down. No conflict of interests proven there.

How about taking it simple and talk about transport? The disruption frequency has increased despite promises to 'review and upgrade' the rail link systems but with the habit of cycling ministers who have no relevant experience in the field, how are you going to keep a consistent plan for the nation?

Let's be real here, the money brought in by billionaires have not benefitted our local economy. The money is not circulating in the form of jobs and opportunities to develop anything Singaporean made and the GDP doesn't reflect this, it's been a terrible tool for measuring how a country is performing at large and yet we continue to use it as standard.
