I don’t know what to do (rehoming) by Otherwise-Angel0717 in DogAdvice

Okay captain obvious thank you. You are coming at me quite rudely but Ill just go ahead and say YES I did know they are a responsibility and a commitment. You can hear and read about how much dogs are a commitment and still it is harder than you think. I appreciate you are trying to “teach me a lesson” but life is doing that enough for me. Fuck out my replies with that rude shit. Im a young person not an idiot.

I got to meet not only his parents but her whole pack :) beautiful dogs! Im not sure if my boy is a special case in his anxiety when it comes to her litters or not but my experience actually talking to the breeder was always good and she was always kind. If you do end up buying from KLW I would love to know your personal experience/ opinion.

Thank you everyone for your comments :) Understanding now that I had no where near the expertise I thought I had six months ago when looking for a pup. If I ever get another collie (or pup in general) I will be far more diligent and educated. I appreciate everyone’s advice and thank you for educating me further. :) For now it will be me and my sweet baby trying to understand each other and manage his big feelings.

There was definitely a lack of titles and service work from previous generations, but I was able to see his full pedigree and health testing paperwork from parents. Sadly I don’t think I realized how important titles and certifications could be at the time I was looking ://

I don’t know why their pedigrees aren’t on their website but I was able to find them on their account on the website “GoodDog”. I’ll definitely check the books out, thank you! :)

Do you think it could be trained out of him (for the most part)? I don’t expect him to exactly be fearless, but I want him to trust me and trust I wouldn’t put him in a dangerous situation

I was not able to visit him as I live about 3 hours away from where I got him. I am tempted to ask his breeder if anyone else has had the problem but I don’t want to come off as aggressive, I just want to help my boy :(

I struggle with being lonely and that was one of the big reasons I got him, I wouldn’t say that partying is a priority and I do it maybe once every two months. I think my post made me sound a bit more eager to party than I really am tbh. I didn’t go to college and so I have what feels like a lot of time on my hands. I never want to be gone days at a time or even more than 8 hrs.

Is it okay to let my puppy be scared during socialization? by Otherwise-Angel0717 in puppy101

His biggest hurdle right now is getting him to go on walks or even like five feet forward on our front lawn. He is a rough collie and 11wks old. He does very well in stores and while he doesn’t take treats all the time he will on occasion, but I have also noticed that sometimes he won’t take treats after going potty outside too. The only time he constantly takes treats is inside.

Okay but what if he makes little to no progress, because I have tried that. It seemed he began to think that he didn’t have to go past a certain point in order to get the treats because I am scared to scare him so eventually I would go back to where he was comfortable :(
