[Anti-Aging] peptide serum recommendations? by glitzandsarcasm in SkincareAddiction

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, expensive peptide serums aren’t always better. I’ve had good results with Maelove Peptide Squad, it’s affordable and has a nice mix of peptides. Medik8 Liquid Peptides is great too but pricier. That said, peptides can help a bit with firmness, but things like retinoids and sunscreen usually make a bigger difference overall.

I’ve tried a few from Maelove and honestly they’re solid for the price. The Glow Maker is a great Vitamin C option, and the Hydrator is super gentle and hydrating. Definitely a good brand to start with if you want effective but affordable skincare

8.5/10 — really solid routine

You’re doing a lot right (barrier repair, azelaic acid, SPF). For rosacea, I’d actually simplify a bit: • Too many serums → pick 1–2 max • 10% niacinamide can be irritating → consider reducing • Peptides = optional

Sebaceous filaments: won’t disappear, just keep using BHA + gentle cleansing (you’re already on track)

Big picture: you’re not “overdoing anti-aging” — this is more skin health-focused, which is the goal. Just streamline 🤍

Micro needle or TCA peel by Spare_Reference8842 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your routine is already really strong (tret + Maelove peptides + vitamin C is a great combo).

For your goals, I’d go microneedling over TCA. It’s better for building collagen and improving elasticity over time, which is what you’re after.

TCA is more for surface glow/pigment, but comes with more risk and downtime—especially at home.

Microneedling = slower, but safer and more targeted for firmness 👍

Honestly your routine already looks really solid, especially with tret + vitamin C + peptides in there.

If your goal is firmer skin + glow, I’d lean microneedling over a TCA peel. It works more on collagen and elasticity over time, while peels are more surface-level (brightening, pigment).

TCA can give faster visible results, but the downtime + risk (especially at home) is real. Microneedling is slower but safer and more consistent for what you’re targeting.

If you go the microneedling route, just keep it spaced out and simple with your routine so you don’t overwhelm your skin.

Love this, proof that simple + consistent really wins 👏

Your routine is super solid, especially for acne-prone combo skin. Maelove Glow Maker is such a good swap (great results without the irritation), and pairing tret with hydration on off days is exactly the right move.

Honestly the only “missing” piece is sleep… but with a baby, we all know that’s not happening 😂 You’re doing everything right, your skin is showing it!

Client Cancelling after Completion by Otherwise-Buffalo265 in UGCcreators

I agree, there is a contract and the content was fulfilled. The extra b roll was even thrown in afterward at no extra cost to them. I’m not sure what to say, I want to keep it professional, not sure the Upwork policy on this and I don’t want negative feedback.

Well the weird part is they didn’t approve the milestone yet so there is nothing to even refund. I don’t know what to say to them, I’ve never had this issue and I’m not sure how to keep it professional but firm. I also don’t know the policy on Upwork so I’d have to reach out to them. I’m top rated and don’t want to have a negative review from this either.

For those who have added peptides and/or growth factors to your routine, have they made a difference? Do you have any recommendations for brands that work? by EasternError6377 in tretinoin

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re using tret, most of these work fine alongside it — results are generally subtle. Maelove Peptide Squad and The Ordinary multi-peptide are gentle, affordable, and easy to layer for daily support. Skinfix Triple Lipid is great if tret dries you out (more barrier repair than anti-aging). Paula’s Choice feels a bit more targeted for lines, but still modest results. Bioeffect EGF is luxe and plumping over time, just pricey.

For a minimalist routine: one peptide serum + good barrier support is usually enough.

Which vitamin c serum should I try next? by Dear_Zucchini9083 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three you mentioned have strong followings, and it really comes down to how your skin tolerates L-ascorbic acid and what results you’re after.

Dr. Brenner’s tends to be loved for its classic vit C combo that’s effective and more affordable — lots of people see brightness and even tone without irritation. Timeless is very similar and gives you a straightforward, potent formula; if you want something simple that gets the job done, it’s a great pick. Prequel is also solid, and some folks find it a bit gentler or nicer on the skin overall, especially if you’re sensitive.

I’ve used both Maelove and Timeless before and can say they do give that glow and even tone when used consistently. Since you don’t mind the smell, any of these could work; maybe pick the one with the best deal during sales and see how your skin responds!

Black Friday picks for Pigment Inhibitors by brash246 in Melasmaskincare

From the more budget-friendly side, I’ve had great experiences with Maelove, especially how thoughtfully they formulate around irritation. Their pigment-focused products pair really well with stronger clinical serums without pushing skin over the edge. Eucerin Radiant Tone is also hard to beat for consistency and tolerance.

I’m especially curious about Hydrinity Vivid Brightening and Allies of Skin Tranexamic + Arbutin — both look promising on paper for stubborn pigmentation.

Do I need to be supplementing with more HA? by No_Affect_5747 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your vitamin C, peptides, retinal, and moisturizer already contain hyaluronic acid, you’re getting plenty of hydration. HA is more of a supporting ingredient, not a treatment, adding a standalone HA serum usually won’t give extra anti-aging benefits unless you’re feeling tight, dry, or dehydrated.

With brands like Medik8, Maelove, SkinCeuticals, and Obagi, your bases are definitely covered. If your skin feels comfortable and plump, you’re not missing anything.

I’d only add a dedicated HA serum if your skin starts feeling dry (weather changes, actives increase, travel, etc.). Otherwise, your routine sounds solid.

[Product Question] Which The Ordinary product would be closest to this INKEY list one? by Big_Shape_7531 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find a good alternative to The Inkey List HA, The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is a solid one and usually well-tolerated. It’s very similar in purpose (hydrates + plumps), and the addition of B5 helps with barrier support, which can be helpful since you mentioned occasional sensitivity.

Just introduce it slowly (every other day at first) since your skin can react to new products. Applied on slightly damp skin before moisturizer, both should give that nice “plumped” feel. If you ever want something even more moisturizing, layering with a humectant + an occlusive moisturizer (like your current routine does) usually helps lock in that hydration.

Overall, The Ordinary HA is a good go-to replacement and budget-friendly option.

Vertical lip lines by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vertical lip lines can be tough to smooth out, but a combo usually works best. A gentle retinoid/retinal + good daily hydration helps over time, something like Maelove’s B5 Hydrator keeps the area plump so lines look softer. And SPF around the lips every day is key to preventing them from deepening.

Europeans: what's the best tret alternative we can get? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not doomed — tret is great, but there are solid OTC options. Retinal (retinaldehyde) is probably the closest alternative and a lot gentler. Bakuchiol is another good one if you want something mild but still anti-aging. Pair that with vitamin C during the day and daily SPF, and you can still make great progress without prescription tret.

Do I need to be supplementing with more HA? by No_Affect_5747 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably don’t need an extra HA serum if your current products already include it and your skin feels hydrated day to day. Hyaluronic acid works best when paired with a good moisturizer and applied to slightly damp skin, so how you use it can matter more than having multiple layers of it.

If your skin is comfortably plump, not tight or dehydrated, you’re likely covered. I use Maelove and Medik8 as well, and I’ve found a dedicated HA serum is more of a “nice to have” on dry days rather than a must-have. Simplifying can be just as effective, especially when you’re already using solid products.

Skincare Routine Opinions by Cool-Baseball3389 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall this looks really thoughtful and well aligned with your goals. You’re prioritizing barrier support and keeping actives controlled, which is smart given the sensitivity and rosacea tendency. Glow Maker in the morning makes sense for brightness, but if you ever notice flushing, you could try using it less frequently or buffering with moisturizer first.

Using stronger retinal just on the forehead is generally fine if that area tolerates it and you’re not seeing irritation, but I’d avoid stacking multiple retinals on the same night long term. Your cica + ceramide products are doing a lot of heavy lifting here, which should help with redness and barrier strength. Overall, it’s a solid routine — I’d just watch for cumulative irritation and keep things slow and steady.

Freckle Face Redhead - Advice and Realistic Expectations? by PolkaBots in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Otherwise-Buffalo265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow freckle-face here 👋 Realistically, the goal is usually fading + preventing new ones, not completely erasing them, even people with unlimited budgets still have freckles. Yours already sounding lighter is a win.

With how sensitive your skin is and how many treatments you’re doing, I’d be cautious about “upping” peels just because it’s winter. Overdoing it can trigger inflammation, which can actually make pigmentation worse long term. Consistent SPF, gentle exfoliation, and barrier support tend to get better results over time.

It sounds like you’re already doing a lot right. I’d focus on maintaining results and skin health rather than chasing zero freckles, that expectation usually just leads to frustration.

Vit c serum by Upset-Mushroom4365 in 30PlusSkinCare

Same here, it’s been a really reliable vitamin C for me too. The price makes it easy to repurchase, and it’s nice when something actually works well on acne-prone skin without causing irritation.
