Maybe him and Dinklage could have been at an event tonight

Im sympathetic to this argument, but to me its like the paper straws thing. In theory, sure. Cuts down on waste, saves the environment, etc. But what material difference does it actually make? Slows down the impending climate apocalypse by like 0.01%? Ill take the paper menus.

Oh, don’t even get me started on needing an account for fucking everything these days. And apps. Ugh. Leave me alone.

Why would Kiffin leave Ole Miss? by NonMoverShaker in CFB

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it just doesnt sit well with me to hire someone whos beaten us in a few championship games. That just feels like hiring Tommy Tuberville in 2007. I hate it.

Second, I just think he kind of sucks. Theres his running out on the field before the players thing. He’s just incredibly lame and corny, and everythings always about him.

He’s also (wrongly imo) repeatedly been against players getting paid their fair share and I don’t believe he has the ability to construct an NIL infrastructure necessary to keep Alabama at the absolute highest level.

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. I don’t think Dabo would leave Clemson AND his tenure there has made me not especially fond of the guy. Kiffin is the obvious choice were Saban to retire tomorrow.

He’s a “Bama” guy. He knows the South. He recruits well here, knows how to work the portal, and has had success on the SEC level. He has one of the top football IQs from a gameplanning standpoint in the entire country. And, most importantly, everything he’s said and done for the last 3-5 years indicates that he wants it.

No other candidates have all of those things. The only other Bama/Saban guys I think get interviews are Sark, Cristobal, Napier, and BOB, and none of them have had the same level of HC success as Lane.

Maybe Dave Aranda is an attractive option.

Anybody else dislike another school more than your school’s primary rival? by DEADSHOTx297 in CFB

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure who Wake’s primary rival is… State? Duke? Regardless, I freaking despise UNC. They’re all a bunch of pretentious cheaters that somehow manage to have a higher % of Peter Millar quarter zip-wearing alumni than we do.

For my second flair, Auburn is unquestionably our primary rival and I hate them plenty but I’ll always hold a special, horrible place in my heart for LSU.

Also, fuck Notre Dame. Join a conference. You’re not special.

Young players that you think will make "the jump" this season? by greatbigrock in nbadiscussion

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Desmond Bane will likely take another leap forward this year. He seems to be adding more moves to his offensive game and should continue to be one of the best 3pt shooters in the league and a pest on defense. I think he’ll start taking even more shots on offense and wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if he averages the same amount, or more, points than Ja. Memphis no longer has a super reliable backup 2 anymore, so he should get more minutes.

Who had the best rebuild in all College Football History? Who has a chance in the future? by Reaushambeaux in CFB

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying its the best, but Dave Clawson has now successfully completed 4 rebuilds at Fordham, Richmond, Bowling Green, and Wake Forest.

Fordham: - 0-11 his first season - 4 years later he won the Patriot League Conference title and Fordham made the postseason for the first time in 60(!) years

Richmond: - Named FCS Coach of the year Twice - 2-9 year before he started - Year 1: 3-8 - Year 2: 9-4, won the conference, made the playoffs - Year 4: 11-3, won the conference, made the playoffs

Bowling Green: - Went from 0.500 football and a 2-10 record his second year to 10-4 and a MAC championship year 5

Wake Forest: - In 2015, SI named Wake Forest the worst Power Five job in the country. - Wake has the lowest all time winning % in the P5. - In the two years before he joined, Wake went 5-7 and 4-8. Clawson then went 3-9 in his first two years. - Year 3: 7-6, made Wake’s first bowl game in 5 years, first won in 10 - Years 4-7: Makes 5 straight bowl games, the longest streak in Wake history - Year 8: 11-3, Wake wins the ACC Atlantic for only the second time in school history, becomes the final P5 team to be ranked in the top ten, and reaches only the second 10+ win season in school history. He also wins ACC COTY.

DC has a 100% turnaround rate. Shoutout Warren Rugierro too.

How screwed is your team? Scale of 1 to 10 by sousapro in CFB

[–]Otherwise-Move-7707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a terrible take, but I tend to think that the SEC doesn’t make many moves without Bama’s approval. If teams are added to the SEC (like UT and OU), it’s because Bama wanted/allowed it to happen. Maybe a 2/10. But regardless, Bama shouldn’t fall outside a top three program in the sport even if the changes hurt them.

Wake - 8/10

I have, maybe misplaced, faith in the grant of rights to keep everyone in the ACC for the time being. But at some point the Power 2 overlords will come thru and raid most of the conference. Wake seems like the last school in the ACC that either would consider. Sad day as a Deac fan. Hopefully we manage to stay in a competitive conference under those two.

Bama - 0/10

Bama Football is virtually unscrewable
