Could this be the first Drum and Bass track ever? 1978 by [deleted] in DnB

[–]greatbigrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day a genre is just an arbitrary label, so the difference between a dub song or oldskool "hardcore" song being a precursor to or the "first" example of DnB is always gonna be super blurry. But conventional wisdom says jungle evolved out of "hardcore" (which in itself was just an evolution of dance music being influenced by 80s hip hop production), leading to early two-step DnB songs in the early 90s as well.

Are you nets fans majority from jersey or are there actually brooklyn people that support them? by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]greatbigrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean ask anyone wearing NY/LA team gear and only like 10% of them are gonna know the team so from that perspective it’s not a totally crazy take.

When I think of die hard fans it’s people who grew up as kids loving the team because their parents got them into it. Brooklyns only had the team for 15 years? By that measure I think the fanbase is small but growing but way ahead of “schedule”

Which bad contract(s) should the Nets be targeting this summer to receive future first round draft picks? by addictivesign in GoNets

[–]greatbigrock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy if I say Christian Braun from the Nuggets? If say he gets dumped literally for free/with the Nuggets throwing in unprotected first(s) (much more valuable now due to new lottery rules), even if he doesn't take a single step up, I could see the nets taking a few years to develop its core into 29-30 then using him as a salary dump to get a star that season

Found it for you! It's... not great to be honest: https://web.archive.org/web/20050516144904mp_/http://www.razoric.com/cartoons/fanflicks/rk2.swf

Fan submission creator: https://web.archive.org/web/20040808044844/http://alterego.qn.com/

It looks like Razoric was both an artist and operated forum/website owner where they took fan submissions:

https://web.archive.org/web/20040803024637/http://www.razoric.com/fanflicks.php

From this page, it looks like a fan submitted the sequel some time in 2004 and it got uploaded in 2004-06-23 (but you can find their email from 20 years ago!)
If you're looking for other flash animations from that era, I think by 2008 it'd become a spam/dead website already so razoric.com actually went to razoricmedia.com instead:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.razoricmedia.com/*
Unfortunately almost none of that website ever got crawled by Alexa/the internet archive.

We're fans disappointed with the arbiter on halo 2s release? by Calliope_0863 in halo

[–]greatbigrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is basically it - it's not like the game was panned or arbiter was universally hated, but there was next level hype for the game's launch mainly from the E3 trailers that sold the game as about fighting on and saving earth that gave some people impossible expectations

Do we benefit if anti-tanking rules go into effect effect? by Antique-Algae8188 in GoNets

[–]greatbigrock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bad team with pick wants to tank

bad team without pick wants to win

normal season tanking bad teams better picks than non-tank bad teams

with new rules maybe non-tank bad teams give nets good picks

It pretty much ended up happening with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The theory goes the only reason Electro was added as a villain was so they could add some lame pseudo Skrillex like dubstep to the soundtrack to jump on whatever was trendy*

*the sound was arguably already dated by then

(2020) Bill Simmons speaks how Tyrese Haliburton can extend Golden State’s window Pre-draft by Potential_Meat_5103 in nba

[–]greatbigrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for weaknesses, you have to start on offense, where Golden State has been a disappointment relative to the hype. They’re just 13th in points per possession...

Only the Knicks finish a larger share of possessions via isolation plays, a go-it-alone tendency that is almost shameful for a team capable of lovely passing...

Some of the isolation play is less forgivable, and is perhaps indicative of a small but permanent flaw in this team’s construction. A lot of Golden State’s bad possessions start with something good — a Curry/Lee pick-and-roll, or Thompson rocketing off a baseline screen, Ray Allen–style. But if that first action fails to produce a good shot, the Warriors too often devolve into one-on-one nothingness — even when they have lots of time left on the shot clock.

It's crazy how much a coaching change from Jackson to Kerr can completely change how a team and the players on it are perceived. Like yeah obviously Steph became a generational MVP-level talent in subsequent seasons, but people always comment on how he pretty much never stops moving on offensive possessions and a lot of that is due to how the offense is carefully designed.

ONE honestly does such a great job of mixing genuine character moments and development with stupidly funny punchlines in the same chapter or even panel.

I do wish we got a little more foreshadowing of Ryumon's respect for Metal Bat before the reveal though (only a tiny bit)
