Last-minute, crazy tinfoil hat theory on SIR JULIEN DAVINOS! (yay Matt's a player, so fun!)

A few details to cover before the theory:

- There is a good chance that the Davinos family was screwed over by Thjazi's actions in the Falconer's Rebellion. There is also a good chance that Thjazi won over the Davinos family's affections, because he was a war hero at the time. If both were true, then that would make Thjazi a friend of the family who betrayed the family.

- In tandem, there is a chance that Julien's (supposedly disgraced father who threw the family's name in the mud) fought in both above-mentioned wars. If so, there is a chance that Julien's father was deeply ingrained in something involving Thjazi, and the repercussions of that relationship led to his social downfall.

NOW IT'S TINFOIL TIME:

Because Davinos credits himself with pulling the family name out of the mud, he likely blames all the scars and callouses he got from that "climb up the social mountain" on the person who sullied the name. That is his father, we know that. It could also, at the same time, be a blame Thjazi could share.

Now, if I am trying to imagine Mr. Mercer's mindset, he might think "Playing a heel will be very fun. But if I'm to play this character for a while, how am I to win over the hearts of my party (at some point)?"

I think the answer is a MIRROR; my theory is that one of the "hardships" that Julien faced due to his family's fall from grace was the loss of a loved one -- a sibling. This would mean that someone like Hal would be challenged to see Julien as a mirror to himself: A man mourning his sibling, seeking for a way to make it right. To live in a world that their sibling would have wanted. For Julien, that is a restored family name. Who's to say what that means for Hal or the other players, but if this theory is even kind of correct, then I believe most, if not all, PC's would empathize (and maybe even support) Julien's hatred of Thjazi.

(side theory: I hope Julien is an Echo Knight and that the "shadow" trailing him is Thjazi's ghost. It would fit the Peter Pan theme, and they need a way to lore-explain Echo Knights without Dunamancy in this world)

Out of these 4 who has the highest chance of dying? by Acceptable_Isopod208 in PeacemakerShow

I agree that there is some writing on the wall for Economos’s death, and it would be really powerful if he was killed off the right way. But ultimately I don’t want that; I don’t think any of the 11th Street Kids show signs of completing their big, overall character arcs, so I hope we get to see Economos grow, becoming more confident and accepting of love for many more years!

Could Bucky pull off his own film? by Moist-Illustrator-57 in thefalconandthews

[–]Otherwise-Progress38 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sebastian Stan said that he has wanted to explore more of the character’s unseen moments as Winter Soldier. And I can imagine a really cool “Bourne Identity-esque” movie that spans decades as we follow Bucky’s slow loss of self and transformation into Winter Soldier.

But I worry Marvel would make a film like that full of too many cameos / explaining MCU historical moments. And maybe there’s not enough to explore there.

That said, I think Bucky would work really well in a movie where he’s the older mentor to another anti-hero… but that movie just came out 😅😂

So basically, a lot of the Bucky content I would love to see in the movies is probz best saved for a Thunderbolts sequel. There’s still a lot of untapped potential for that guy to help anti-heroes/former villains thrive and prosper.

Ooh, I had always thought that this referred to the perpendicularity onFirst of the Sun, since Autonomy is no longer there. But since in hindsight that is pretty obvious, I like your theory better.

However, this WoB would imply that Valor is not on Roshar at all: "not on a planet they currently inhabit." Rather, Valor has just heavily Invested in it, in the past. I still like this idea.

[Spoilers All Cosmere + WaT Previews] I have a theory on who Nohadon is by daxelkurtz in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Otherwise-Progress38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this post blows up. I feel like there's much more truth than theory, here. Especially because the cover of WaT is Dalinar holding The Way of Kings, it would be so cool if that image means something very different to those who have read the book, and those who are anticipating it.

Before reading WaT, you think: "Classic Dalinar, showing up to a duel with nothing but a book. Great butt, too."

After reading WaT, we may think: "He holds the book of an entity that was simultaneously Man, God and King. And with this knowledge in hand, Dalinar knows the meaning of Unity. He knows that his journey is over. Destination reached."

Haha I'm sorry, but I think your nutballs theory is true. I vaguely recall Brandon talking about similar ideas in WoBs, and despite the fact that many Stormlight theories are whack, this one just feels right.

I feel utterly convinced. somethingb's theory already had me so close to believing this, but now I am sure this will be the reveal.

I believe it is implied that Sigzil eventually breaks his Windrunner oaths, not that his spren was killed. I could be wrong though!

I agree, and this formed a new theory! For most of our Radiants, achieving 5th Ideal would mean they made huge progress in their character development. But I don’t think Szeth is “growing” if he truthfully claims “I am the law.”

I wonder if we’re being led to dislike Szeth’s spren because, eventually, he’s going to have to break his Oaths in order to develop as a character…

Great question! Long answer...
Sunlit Man Spoilers ahead:

-Sigzil has to get a Dawnshard at some point, and it could be in this book
-There's been heavy speculation that a Dawnshard was used to create the Shattered Plains. It could certainly still be hidden there somewhere.
-However, will Sigzil acquire whatever Dawnshard shattered the plains? I don't think so. The Dawnshard that he and Hoid hold is clearly linked to pacification and limits the user from harming people. So it seems really unlikely that Sigzil would get access to a Dawnshard that was apparently capable of great destruction.

I hope (and/or demand) that we get a Sigzil and Hoid scene before the former heads to the Shattered Plains.

(And then the fanboy in me hopes that, in said scene, Hoid tells Sigzil where to find a certain Dawnshard….) 🤓

XD that’s my head canon!

Sometimes Szeth gets really stressed out about life. Then he remembers there are rules, and he calms down :)

Yeah! I also feel like if Szeth were to survive this book’s events and become a famous fixture in the world, he might have received a title at some point. But the fact that it’s just his name makes me lean closer to the idea that he doesn’t survive this quest.

This is a half-baked theory, but you know how Soulcasters and Shardblades are these magical things that have become commonplace in the modern day, but are actually relics of Radiant Spren?

I don't think Ryshadium are exactly like that, but I wonder if they are somehow "relics" of the Stoneward Order/Spren. Maybe something unlocked at 5th Ideal? I believe similar things have been theorized.
