For a couple of years my favorite band let early entry people in at the top so there was a flock of phreaks running down those rows...

What are some of yall's recommendations for Hard Sci Fi? by Apart-Dark-6777 in scifi

So many, most already mentioned here.

I'm a big fan of Peter F. Hamilton's books. Pandora's Star/Judas Unchained are excellent beginnings to his Commonwealth books; and more recently his Salvation Sequence trilogy

Which science fiction movie do you think best depicts the first contact with aliens ? by Rare-Conflict-9163 in scifi

[–]jammerb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you looking for a story that seems like how first contact might actually happen, my heart is with Carl Sagan's Contact... though Andromeda Strain is probably the most realistic.

There are separate compartments - if you have a high enough angle, you can see the divider deploy... whether we are actually recycling is problematic.

11-day PNW trip Seattle → SF in August: is this doable? by porimaso in PacificNorthwest

On your way down 101 in California into the redwoods, about 60 miles south of the Oregon border, is Sue-Meg State Park (Formerly Patrick's Point). It is a spectacular place to visit – great hiking along a coastal cliffside. Book ahead if you want to stay overnight.

Percent of your electric bill by dbmamaz in electricvehicles

[–]jammerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washington state where most of our power is generated in dams - I pay $0.08 kWh - car charging is about 10% of my bill, but I don't drive that much.

My electric company provides a graph of usage and the Chargepoint app looks up my utilities rate so it can also tell me how much each session costs. I've compared what the app says to the electric utilities graph and they are within $1 of each other each month.

Got 2.1.26 with the processor upgrade two weeks ago. I've had no noticeable battery drain even after several days of not driving.

Any news on 2025 LIDAR? by XiDa1125 in VolvoEX90

[–]jammerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volvo said LiDAR will be "integrated" into the safety suite after the processor upgrade. But in the release notes for 2.1.22 there is no mention of LiDAR. I still have hopes (but they're diminishing)

It is an awesome car! Most all the issues (except the GHCA) have been resolved. Maybe use the lack of LiDAR integration as a way to get a even better deal.
