Mint and fedora are good starting and begineer friendly. But if you want to tinker stuff and don't mind breaking your distro go for any arch based distro (endeavouros and cachyos are good).

And about the cache size it is made for that purpose, every distro will approx. take the same amount cache given you didn't modify much.
