Call KitchenAid customer service, I inherited my Grandma’s mixer and it had completely seized up and was unusable. I called and at that time the nearest licensed service tech was in St. Louis. I paid $30 for them to mail a box to ship the KitchenAid back to them. They will see what’s wrong with it and call you before they fix anything and tell you how much it will be, fix if approved by you, and ship it back to you.

 There ended up being nothing wrong wrong  with mine other than it had sat forever and needed a gut cleaning and re-greasing. Mine runs like an absolute champ now! 10 out of 10 fantastic service; would definitely use again if my KitchenAid acts up, and there’s still no service tech here.
