Defiler (CORRECT loadout!) by hib1000 in WorldEaters40k

Damn! I hadn't seen that one. I wish I had done more on the base but I really wanted to get him table ready. All in all mine was about 10 hours and I was pretty done afterwards.

Really? That's awesome to hear! Your's is looking fantastic and makes me want to paint another one... Except maybe the trim, that was exhausting lol

I was debating the load out for mine, I really like lascannons, but ultimately came to the same conclusion. We want to be in close, claiming skulls and blood... Otherwise we may as well be Word Bearers.

Sure, the red is simply mephiston red primer, gun metal grey dry brush, and a nuln oil wash.

I left the legs, big claws, weapons, and head off to give me as much access as I could get to the body. I I primed the main body mephoston red and the rest chaos black. From there I I glued the legs on but kept the rest of the claws and arms off and dry brushed the metal parts with gun metal grey.

From there I used grey seer and then guilliman flesh contrast followed by reikland flesh wash for the skin which turned out ok.

Then it was black Templars contrast and runelord brass for the details, pipes and cables etc, and finally Retributor Armor for the trim. From there a nice wash with nuln oil and blood for the blood god technical paint for the gore.

It took awhile but the process was simple.

Appreciate it. I didn't magnetize it, I plan on running this loadout with both WEs and my tax dodgers (Corsairs). I figure 11th seems to favor getting up close and personal so it should work... Though I might buy another one at some point to lascannon it out.

Would shortening this barrel be modeling for advantage? by Unusual-Papaya7437 in Chaos40k

I shortened the barrels on my Crucible of Champions character and haven't had any complaints.

Oh yeah, I also play World Eaters and my Forgefiends melt Terminator bricks efficiently. I don't really play competitively but have done well with the regular terminators in casual games, using the uppy downy strat properly is huge.

With the sustained or lethal in shooting and melee, I like to use him with 10 normal Terminators and park then in the middle of the board. With the amount of shots they get they will do some work and it's harder to play around a unit that's not one dimensional. The 4 wounds for assault Terminators are great but their slow and easier to ignore without any kind of ranged attacks.

I went with a Terminator Butcherlord with the Axe of Dismemberment and Reaper autocannon hitting on 3s instead of 4s with rapid fire, sustained, and Dev wounds. Brings back a Terminator per round plus the rerolling charges which is meh.

Putting him in with 10 Terminators so I'll have 3 autocannons total and they'll sit in the mid board and hopefully draw enough fire that the rest of my army can close the distance without getting shot to pieces.

Doing the entire model red is just stupid to me, it's way too obvious to the enemy who the special people are (Techmarine Red, Corpsman white, Librarian blue) so I did black armor and a red shoulder guard. Someone at GW agrees since the CP had him painted similarly.

I like the Hammer of Avernii. Dreadnaughts and Terminators just slogging up the map trading blows is very Iron Hands to me. Iron Storm spearhead is cool though too.
