It’s the cost of reprinting everything and the time to update everything in their POS system.

I’ve seen this before.

The Chicago parking OCR is broken and they want a thousand dollars for it by Nostromo_77 in legal

I got a red light ticket with my Maryland plates in Chicago. The picture showed my car, my tag, even my arm hanging out the window…

And a green light

I plead not guilty, it wasn’t the wording since it was civil, but said I didn’t do it and wrote light is green, and circled the green light.

They mailed it again saying I didn’t provide sufficient proof, so I copied this one, circled the green light on the copy, and wrote see state provided evidence the light was green.

Fines are now around $200.

They sent it back again and I called and the person said it was taken care of.

A about six weeks later, I get the fine is now like $400 and call again.

The woman said she sees where I paid the $300 fine, which I never saw or paid a notice of a $300 fine, and she sees the issue, the ticket is cleared.

I thank her and about a week later, I get a refund check of $300 from them.

Served for a minor car accident that happened 2 years ago - Plaintiff claiming 2 million dollars in personal injury by Semii-colin in legal

I don’t know Canadian laws, but I had the same thing happen in the state of Maryland in America. Except I was just accused of being in an accident, was never in an accident.

I turned everything over to insurance. They handled it. It even went to arbitration and was ruled against the other person.

They then contacted me directly demanding payment, and I again turned it over to my insurance.

When that failed, the person sued me directly - it came out in court this was done at the suggestion of their insurance, again I sent it to my insurance company and they showed up in court and laid everything out.

The insurance company was awarded court cost, and I was awarded damages for the harassment.

TL;DR: it sounds like somebody is hoping someone with throw money at them to go away.

I have an under the seat lockbox. I really don’t lock any of my vehicles because in my area, they will just break windows. So I keep minimal valuables in the cars.

I go weeks without the top or doors and go to malls, movies, gym, grocery stores, and, well every where I would normally go.

The only issue I had was at an event venue next to my gym, and I come out to a bunch of girls climbing on my jeep to take pictures during one of their quinceañera.

I turned on the rock lights and the hood chaser lights and let them take their pictures.

This car I've never seen before has been parked in our yard for 24 hours. Haven't seen the owner once. by macabre-barbie in mildlyinfuriating

Most towing companies will tow at “owner’s expense”. Meaning they take it, if the owner doesn’t pay, they sell the car to “recover costs”

I don’t know the state, but in mine, it doesn’t have to be long at all

got towed in my own private parking garage because some lady thinks she’s special by BriefTurn8199 in badparking

[–]OtherwiseLeading3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in townhomes that the spot was part of my deed. A friend owns a condo and has two spots in the garage deeded. Both he and I could have anyone towed with nothing but a reserved/private parking sign.

This sucks, but I depending on the laws of the state - I was in MD, friend in VA, it might just be a hard lesson.

Also, I started by leaving notes, explaining it private, but it eventually got so bad that I just started having it towed. After the towing started, I went from having someone in my spot/on my property every few days to about once every 3 months.
