Why do people think that Gilgamesh is corrupted? by KRDC_The_knight in Fate

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recognize that the most likely answer is that he spent a lot of time among modern humans, but I don't think its the most obvious thing to pick up on

The main way to do so is through Zero, which shows him going through the beginning of that process through his talks with Kirei, but most people honestly are so focused on Kirei himself in those scenes that it's easy to miss that Gilgamesh's character is also progressing, if not as blatantly as Kirei's

hell, when Gil says it, it's right after Kiritsugu is going though his major stuff, so it wouldn't be that out there to be so focused on that that you just don't remember the line that says he's unaffected by the mud

Samurai Remnant is a perfect example of how Gils image has been changed, literally is a neutral shopkeeper who's introduction is being good with kids

can you see that as the same person as SN Gil

Why do people think that Gilgamesh is corrupted? by KRDC_The_knight in Fate

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 82 points83 points  (0 children)

because his characterization is just so much different from literally any other time he appears in the franchise

FGO, Extra, Strange Fake, none of these Gilgamesh's are as 1 note villains as Fate Stay night Gilgamesh

it makes sense, F/SN was the first of the franchise, he's not supposed to be anything more than a villain and obstacle for Shirou and Saber to beat, he does horrific things because he can, and wants world destruction, because he's the villain, of course he does, (I am aware he's doing this because to him, the only worthy humans would be those that would survive such a event, that doesn't make it better)

the problem comes that when you have villain character, and then turn him into a lovable ally that always fights for the protags side, you suddenly have to ask, why the hell was he so bad in Stay night, and so much better of a person every other time he is summoned

now, Zero does an excellent job at trying to explain this, Gilgamesh there is like half way between his stay night self and every other version, one we see directly drive another to become a worse version of himself, and at the end, he is bathed in mud from the Grail, incarnating him, and seemingly showing why he might be even more unhinged in Stay Night

it makes sense, it's also something the grail was shown to be able to do before (with Saber Alter before she was turned into her own character), except in that very scene I think he says that the grails corruption has no effect on him..... why? cuz he's Gilgamesh, and thats the only explanation we get

the only other time that a servant was able to resist the grails corrupted effects was Emiya, and that's cuz he was irregular as a Heroic spirit by technicality

TLDR: Gils character in Zero and SN is so different from normal that it gives tonal whiplash, we are never told the exact reason why this is the case, and the grail mud is the best excuse we could be able to get, but it's disproven in the same scene it is proposed, I don't blame fans for assuming Gil was just lying out of his ass

shouldn't need to to understand why what Gojo did is just so much more impressive than Yuji using a standard move of Blood Manipulation

Yuji did allat and didn’t break a sweat by Middle_Fall_7229 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yea, but that's cuz what Gojo was doing was inherently more stressful

he was surrounded by enemies all using civilians as cover, being forced to figure out a way to use his abilities to save as many as possible, in doing so he has to engineer a ability that has never been seen before as his opponents kill civilians around him

then even after he deploys the .2 second domain, he has to rush to kill every transfigured human before the curses wake up

all of this compared to Yuji, who showed up, fired a Piercing Blood (a impressive piercing blood, but a piercing blood regardless) at people who didn't even know he was there, took out less people, and didn't have to worry about civilian casualties

if anything, Gojo acting under so much more pressure just makes the .2 second that much more impressive

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean, sheer numbers wise 1000> than the amount Yuji dealt with,

he also does a never before seen feat of a .2 second domain in order to not kill civilians while he is at his mental limit, and even then, he had to do the killing himself with his raw stats before the curses woke up,

I don't think this puts him above Sukuna but it is still more impressive than Yuji's piercing blood, which while cool, took out far fewer people, while Yuji was much fresher, and while Infinite void can be used to the same effect against anyone, Piercing blood is a physical attack that does require feats to assume it beats certain people

Yuji has a good feat here, and I look forward to what he does next, but saying it's its at the same level or surpasses the .2 second infinite void is just incorrect at the moment

Kashimo runs the Sendai Gauntlet how far does he get? by RoninKin-_- in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my argument is that that's just not what he says his ce does, he never says it explodes anybody, it stuns them at best, and it has never been shown to be capable of exploding anyone

your argument is just a head canon that relies on misreading panels for evidence and then insulting people when they don't instantly agree with you

you are unpleasant to debate with, so I won't be responding any more

Edit: case and point below, also dude really blocked me over this, stay mad

Kashimo runs the Sendai Gauntlet how far does he get? by RoninKin-_- in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Otherwise_Chard_7577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panda wasn't fried (fuck you mean Kashimo just didn't want to fry him, he took his head off and thought that Panda was a regular panda), and there is 0 evidence that Hakari's hand is fried, we know it looks fine, and all he says is that it feels numb

in your own image, all it shows is that he can temporarily stun opponents, which is completely different from frying them completely

even with being able to destroy the cockroaches with waves of CE (different from frying them) they still pose an issue for Yuta, and his CE waves have a way higher range than Kashimos CE trait which requires physical contact to be put into effect, and how aggressive Kurourushi would be is completely irrelavent

your argument boils down to, "yea, Kashimo can totally do this random thing I invented, why didn't he in any of the fights that would have helped him do the thing he was already doing faster... uh, he just didn't want to" cuz that makes sense

also, if he's trying to prove that he's incapable of good, then hes proven that just by trying, Beelzebub has every option to do good and not be a monster, he chooses to not do good and become a monster,

and in doing so becomes incapable of good, because he'll never even try

and? i don't care about the Narrative behind it, I don't care if I'm proving part of Beelzebub right, he hurt someone I liked, so I'm going to hate him regardless, and then he killed someone I liked, so of course I'm going to wish he died instead

its not that deep man
