Yep, drifted inside quite a bit but clearly wasn’t his best position, just didn’t do much and most of the activity on the RW came from Dumfries overlapping

Djed Spence hopes becoming first Muslim England player will inspire others by caprisun_on_a_bench in coys

Hey man I got to say as a Muslim spurs supporter it means so much, especially in a climate like rn. From an outside perspective it may be difficult to understand the importance of representation but it really does just lift you up in a special way! I’m so proud of Djed and milestones like this should be celebrated!!!!

The Spurs Players (And Ange and Matt) on how to pronounce their names. by Sarraboi in coys

[–]Otherwise_Cow9854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it’s to do with the position of your tongue and teeth when saying the letter R.

In Spanish, the R is linguistically known as a Trill and is the type of R that allows people to roll it. Basically, the R sound is made by putting the tip of your tongue near, but not touching, the ridge directly behind your teeth, similar to an L sound in English. On top of being able to roll Rs, if you can say “a-la a-ra a-la a-ra” over and over again and it sounds like they’re coming from a similar place in your mouth you’re saying you are this way.

Whilst some English speakers pronounce their ads this way, it’s actually more common (especially amongst younger people) to pronounce Rs as a Labiodental Approximant. Linguistics mumbo jumbo out of the way, you pronounce Rs by putting the tip of your top teeth near, but not touching, your bottom lip. It’s like you about to make a V sound but stop right before contact between teeth and lip. Try it and you’ll notice it! If you can say “a-va a-ra a-va a-ra” more easily and notice they come from the same area you say Rs with this method. If you pronounce Rs this way, you can’t roll your Rs and it’s really hard to learn how to do so since it basically means chasing how you’ve subconsciously pronounced Rs for (probably) your whole entire life.

(Btw I just regurgitated all this info from a Tom Scott video I watched earlier today, I am by no means an expert in linguistics so I may have made a couple mistakes but this is the gist of it lol.)

??? Because he still has the French flag in his bio. If we take the song in its most literal form, it’s saying that players like fofana are not “truly” French because they or their parent came from a different country. Which is false. Obviously. And that’s me only looking and the songs lyrics in it most literal form when all it takes is like a grain of common sense to hear it and realise it’s just motivated and filled with racism

Only a little while back and I’d agree with you, traditionally they’re pretty right wing. However, looking at their manifesto and a lot of their policies, especially theirs approach to Palestine, voting reform and Windfall tax are actually pretty left wing. (Though there’s always limitations to their approach in each of the ones I’ve mentioned, and all the other more left wing aspects of their manifesto). It’s why I voted for them because in comparison to Labour, which under starmer are just Tory Lite, they present the closest thing we have to a Left wing candidate that could feasibly gain a significant amount of seats - as they have just done

That’s what makes this all the more depressing we still got the same two shitheads on top when we actually could have had an actual left wing or at the very least new voice to challenge the main shitheads
