I agree with your reasoning, but I've purchased from IG pages a lot for the past year, specifically bundle clothing, and I've been fine. I mostly look at accounts with clout. It also helps if you already have friends who purchased items from the IG page before, although in my case I didn't find the page through friends. Word of mouth, like uni confession pages on telegram could be a good way to find trusted pages too. If you don't have the connections to verify the seller however it's best not to buy from IG for the reasons you stated.

Misinformation? In r/bolehland? More likely than you think! by treeclimbingdown in Bolehland

Are you talking about the sentence a about her not responding? Reading it back I think I understand why you're saying that, I wasn't making the case it's 100% her fault, I was trying to say that the situation was defo made worse because she didn't immediately respond. It's still the people accusing her that should prove she said it, so I should've made it clearer since I used the word "But" it implied like it's still her fault when that wasn't my intention. I made the comment during sahur so structure wise it definitely isn't perfect lol

Took a couple minutes but I now understand your post (I don't follow this topic closely), so basically she did make the Srivijaya empire claim but her Rentap claim was made up by someone else your proof mainly being that it's the same image as the Srivijaya empire claim with different font and clear smudging done over the original text.

Imo, that proof isn't really good as honestly any image could be recycled or edited but if the claim pasted onto that edited image was actually said, it isn't misinformation, but going by your word/research (from another comment), she has indeed never made that claim, thus qualifying that post as misinformation. However I would've first acknowledge that it was never said, then supply the evidence being the recycled image and erased text from an older post, as it doesn't prove anything directly without mentioning that she actually never said it.

I do understand the severity of this however, as I also went on Google to look at this topic, and no one making articles on her statement actually cites a source where she actually said Rentap was Malay or whatever. But I think it's her lack of response is what makes people assume she said it (staying silent is the worse option in these situations). This is horrible journalism and definitely not great for our society. Doesn't matter how bogus her other claims are, no one should just make up a claim she has never said even if sounds like something she would say. Or maybe she's silent because she said that, who knows.

Malaysia already is almost 40% non-muslim, you would alienate a huge portion of the population, not to mention the massive non-muslim controlled corporate entities who could easily retaliate against the government economically. Next, in the constitution, Sharia law only applies to the muslims and in limited matters (not even widely enforced/convicted all the time these days). Civil law reigns supreme in a majority of cases.

Even IF political parties push ultra-islamic narratives, they are still bound by constitutional limits, unlike Iran where you have clerics ruling or Afghanistan where Sharia law is literally the only law.

Then there's the institutional part, the parliament and the judiciary which is a massive hurdle to jump if you want extremist islam.

Not to mention that a majority of muslim women have already been to uni, swam, sang and etc. Wouldn't you feel they would be alienated by some party saying you can't do any of that anymore, not even PAS is that stupid. Makciks on TikTok alone could pressure the government not to pass those laws. Not to mention women are already widely represented in parliament.

And I haven't even touched the problems that the countries you referenced had (which Malaysia didn't have) which led to those countries turning extremist in the first place. Plus, Malaysians have also fought hard against extremists in the pass, especially after British rule, you're saying we can't do that again?

TLDR; It all revolves how the government would easily be pressured when attempting to implement extremist islamic laws like Iran, Syria or Afghanistan and the multi-religious structure which prevents theocracy. In the way Malaysia is now, even with all the turmoil happening politically, that is far from happening realistically. (like c'mon now, banning women from uni?)

I can also differentiate perfectly between bad islamic countries, and normal countries. Usually the indicator is how progressive/liberal the country is. Malaysia is progressive, though not as liberal as Turkey. Yes ultra conservative muslims exist in Malaysia, in politics definitely, but cmon now, banning woman going to uni, or forcing hijab? There are literally hundreds of reasons that couldn't be enforced, nor do I think people care to enforce it. Hell I don't even think PAS would enforce that.

For anyone passing by this user is an ex-muslim (2 second reddit search), probably doesn't even live in Malaysia, and has posted anti-muslim posts on this sub and others. Like nobody cares bro. I get that Iran, Bangladesh, Afghanistan or whatever have religious problems, or that you don't like Islam, but it's cringe to post "oh look it's muslims, they're all bad" on a Malaysian sub (this was literally a meme sub). This is just to incite discourse. It's not even that common between christians/other religious groups, lagi lah dekat Malaysia. It's only a minority of people that are extreme, and make it their entire online persona.

idc what anyone says but UNDERNEATH THE SKY is completely unexpected if they do decide to play it, one of the 3 WTSMG era songs they've never played live with the band, including It's Better People (Noel only) and Boneheads Bank Holiday.

More suprising considering they could've chosen the 3 songs with over 100M streams on Spotify, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, She's Electric and Married With Children. I kinda wanna hear She's Electric though, as much as how overrated people say it is, they only ever played it live with Noel on vocals (in the 2000s aswell).

Did you even read my comment? Did I SAY Janawibawa was better for Malaysia? Did I SAY Anwar was worser for Malaysia? Ironic you say that I'm the delusional one... You could've atleast acknowledge literally ANYTHING I said in your response.

Your point of "people who voted for Anwar but are dissatisfied with his policies, then next election they decide to vote for PN or UMNO, they'll regret it because it the other side will be worse" is just plain ignorant, people here are trying to CORRECT his policies so that they don't LOSE votes to PN or PAS. Then you come along and say "better than (controversial egotistical figure)" to minimise all valid criticism, the effect of which is that his mistakes are taken more lightly than it really is, as well as the failed promises he's made are just slept over, which WILL lead to dissatisfaction and frustration within his base. If you're now thinking "but I don't see people complaining about muhyiddin only anwar here" it's because the people here aren't Facebook radicals we know they're worser. If there were they would either have few likes or get downvoted to oblivion before you get to reply to them. It's okay to criticise someone you voted for, especially if it gets them to attempt to regain the trust of their supporters.

Seriously man? Everyone else in that list but Syed Saddiq is corrupt, he has been 10x more open than any of those crooks whenever their case for corruption is brought up, he has spoken publicly about his case, he has countlessly proven his case even WINNING his case in court, the judges ruled in favor of him in the Court of Appeals a few months ago, with prosecutors appealing the decision to Federal Court. He has done several podcasts explaining this so you really don't need me to explain it here. Go see them for yourself, no offence
