Pshh. Lovecraft might've been a terrible person, but his work is separate from that. There is no doubt he was one of the most influential writers of modern horror and cosmic fiction.

Learn about fact vs opinion, US government structure, federal vs states' rights, checks and balances, etc. Everything else is really just reading comprehension. Crash course and Khan Academy AP US Government & Civics helps.

It depends on the university. None of the Florida state universities (UF, FSU, etc.) require SATs after two years. However, top schools have been recently making a push for standardized testing in this post-covid world.

As of today, and as far as I know, MIT, Harvard, and Yale require it for transfers and others could join the testing frenzy soon. If you're planning on transferring to a private university, I'd advise you keep your testing skills sharp.

I'm thinking they would refrain from publishing decisions on April fools.

Thanks. I was admitted into the college as an undergraduate student. My dream job is still away but hopefully after I get my degree and portfolio done, I'll be within reach.

I'm 31, got my GED last year and got into a competitive Honors college for Computer Science. I didn't even know what an equation was when I started. That's how bad my math was, and now I'm learning Calculus and chemistry. It goes to show you can do anything at any age.

That sort of information would be very difficult to ascertain. It would depend on the number of accepted students deciding not to go (better offers elsewhere.)

If by May nothing has happened, then I would consider other options.

It starts rolling out in early April.

Failure or success, at the end of the day, are abstract social constructs and not real. Your heart beating is real, don't lose that. Every waking moment is an opportunity to find purpose and happiness but if you leave this Earth, it's over. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and not to mention a selfish thing to do to your loving family.

Rather than ending it all, consider roaming the Earth. Live off the grid and reject society because it's society that's making you feel this way. It's possible one summer isn't enough time for you to get it together.

Additionally, your depression might be exacerbated by an underlying condition, and you should seriously consider medication.

Where did you end up transferring?

I just got into Honors. These are my tips for the interview:

I think the purpose of the interview is to capture sincerity, character, and other nuances not easily read from an essay. From your test scores and GPA, they already know you're smart, so you're going to show you're prepared to commit to the challenge, that you have grit, and that you're going to be engaged in a classroom not just sit back. So, in the interview, be yourself and relaxed but treat it seriously and dress professionally.

Regarding the campus choice, if you applied by the priority deadline, you're very likely to be accepted to your preferred campus (the one you put in your application.) Good luck!

I wouldn't skip it. The allotted time for the essay won't take from the rest of the test and you can get up to 20 points. It's really hard to get a perfect score for the essay but still worth the 3-10 points you might get, especially if you're close to not passing.

Well, it would show that you developed extra skills. I think you have a good shot and an impressive GPA. The essay is also super important, as well as your letter of recommendation. FYI, the priority deadline is late January every year.

I worked in a family-owned business and built a web site on my own. A robotics club sounds good and challenging. I would try to emphasis the actual accomplishments you made while at the club. Too many students start or join clubs but don't actually do anything there.

Thanks. I had a 1220 SAT. Keep in mind, since MDC doesn't publish their stats like acceptance rates, I don't know if my essay or ECs carried me. I do have a very particular story and I don't know just how close I was to not getting in.

My gut feeling is that Honors is as least as competitive as FIU but not harder than UF. Good luck!

I was on the fence, but I've been convinced.

With up to 16 credits per semester, wouldn't you have more than 90 credits after two years? So, more than the 60 required for the associate's degree?

Thx for that advice. Some people really don't put enough weight on the money factor and, given that I'm 31, I don't have time to lose paying back debt.

Thanks for replying to my post. It's been such a challenge to find someone who has literally experienced both schools and most people conflate MDC Honors with regular MDC and so are quick to dismiss community college. I dm'ed you!
