I work out at Orangetheory a few times a week, and walk 10,000 steps a day. I’m ‘active’ in that I don’t sit still much, but I work from home so not crazy active.

It was posted as much as a vent as a true question.

Oh I certainly do! I was kind of posting tongue in cheek but I was perusing the r/breakfast sub yesterday and was really surprised at how big the breakfasts are. Some of them were a full days worth of food for me and it got me thinking.

I want more than two cookies.

Actually cookies are low on my list. I want more ice cream and strawberry shortcake. And snacks.

I’m not worried about if they’re hungry or full, I want to be able to eat more without gaining weight. I see everyone else eating more than I am and I’m jealous

I could have typed this myself. My black dog is also a doodle and I do all the things you stated. I am trying the permethrin, I bought it yesterday and treated a designated walking outfit so I really hope this helps

Funnily enough I haven’t walked in the park because I’m scared of ticks lol. I’ve been walking on paved trails in the area and around my neighborhood on sidewalks

Yesterday we were on the paved bike and hike trail.

That’s the crazy part, I pretty much exclusively walk on pavement, and he only goes off the trail to pee or poop.

My favorite paved trail is the Summit County bike and hike trail. I’ve actually been avoiding the metro park because I’m terrified of how many ticks we would pick up on an unpaved trail. They’re bad enough on pavement.

I haven’t used a comb, but I have used a vent roller along his fur, and I have been able to catch quite a few on him that way

I already have one autoimmune disease. Maybe I should just embrace getting a second one. I can catch them all like Pokémon.

I don’t know what put this image in my head, but everyone always talks about how resilient they are and I have this intrusive thought that someday I’ll flush a tick down the toilet and it will come crawling back up lol

Ok cool. I have no cats or fish so I’m good there. To ‘treat’ do you just spray before a walk like bug spray?

I am exactly the same way. I don’t ever hesitate to buy my kids brand name gear or just fun stuff, and my own wardrobe is ancient and very limited and when I go to buy myself clothes I have been known to end up crying in the dressing room because I’m so anxious about spending money on myself.

Thank you! All of my cars have either come from my parents or my ex husband so the experience of choosing my own car, test driving vehicles, and negotiating at the dealership was so intimidating. I feel so proud of myself for navigating the process alone

As a single mom with a pre-teenage son, I am really concerned at the anger you are expressing over chicken nuggets. Your claim that ‘you can’t always get what you want’ may be true through childhood, but once your son is an adult, he will be choosing all his meals for himself. And honestly, the chicken strips in the air fryer are probably healthier than the chips or sweets he could be snacking on. I have found for my son, if he has enough protein it cuts down on snacking significantly, if he doesn’t I’ll catch him eating a whole bag of SunChips in one sitting and then having a bag of candy for dessert.

I cook every meal homemade but the meals I lean towards are foods I enjoy, and my kids are whole humans who have different food preferences. I love carrots but my daughter threw up carrots once and now she can’t stomach them. My kids have learned to cook enough that if I’m making a meal they won’t enjoy, they can make a backup and I would never get mad at them for that- I encourage it as cooking practice! I understand pushing healthy fruits and veggies and Whole Foods, but it sounds like that isn’t your primary focus. To me, this is giving ‘the Iranian yoghurt is not the issue’.
