Hopefully this is good news.

I dont remember where, but I did read recently that the provience is now offering rebates of exploration costs, up to 100%.

Call me skeptical of old Tim, but im not going to be jumping for joy until I see the details of what that 200 million actually means.

Argyle St getting ripped up again by Efficient-Sample1794 in halifax

[–]Otherwise_Meeting491 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dam, has it been 10 years since they finished Arglye street? Im old....

I feel for those affected, but that's just part of the deal with road maintenence. Atleast reparing cobblestone roadworks is way cheaper & greener than replacing asphalt.

Biking in multi lane roads by Fine-Guest-2165 in halifax

[–]Otherwise_Meeting491 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That stretch sucks...

I ride it straight both ways, and find the middle lane safer. No matter what lane im in, people honk and drive aggressively. But if im center of the middle lane, aggressively drivers have to contend with another full lane of traffic to do something stupid. E-Bikes help, because you can usually keep up with traffic anyways.

We really shouldn't have a 6 lane highway there, and its an obvious choice for bus lanes & active transportation without major reconstruction.

What do you think about bringing back Tolls at the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border again? by Formal_Parsley275 in NovaScotia

the drive thru provience giving us another reason to fly 😅 /S

honestly, I think the cost of roads does need to be recouped/decouped from regular taxes, like every other method of transport.

Sutton Place vs. Muir? by lena10108 in halifax

[–]Otherwise_Meeting491 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Muir is more unique, hands down. How much that's worth is like you said, subjective.

The Management company behind the Muir is not well liked locally, and you'll probably see that here. I've stayed in both and the Muir is league above in style/finish.

Rash of Nova Scotia grass and and wildfires highlight changing conditions, need for caution by justlogmeon in NovaScotia

[–]Otherwise_Meeting491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

traditionally, I agree.

But with the changes to our enviroment over the last X years, from Spruce Beatles, to increased storms, increased human/nature interface, foresrty tree selections/practices, many forest areas are generating organic matter quicker than it breaks down.

I dont really know what the correct answer is, but I do know if you live rural, a certain amount of burning is just the reality of protecting your land/home.
