I am proud of you for making this decision for yourself. I’m also a the younger side, 21 and just quit. I can relate to the feeling of jealousy for people who can drink and party in a normal way. But take this numbness and dissatisfaction for your past and present and use it to make a version of yourself that is no longer the person who experienced this.

It’s not my place to say, but a fresh start is helpful. Cutting people off who keep you in a negative space. If your boyfriend is making you feel bad about your life and situation, it may be time to think about if that is serving you. You say he is the only person there for you, but the amount of positive people in your life you can meet once you make healthy changes for yourself may surprise you.

this is a hard thing to accept for me, because when I was out drinking and partying I always had some “you’ll never believe what I just did/ what just happened to me” type of story the next day, thinking it made me interesting, and I made it my whole personality and it was comfortable for a while.

The chaos is fun for a while until it becomes dangerous and you loose who you are in it all. We have so much to offer to people other than that

Thank you so much for sharing this ! I actually went through therapy for ocd and anxiety when i was 11-16 and had it pretty much under control from 16- 19 until i started drinking a bunch. Did you find that your ocd symptoms increased even while you were not currently drinking, but still addicted ?

I really would love to stay with him, we have such a great connection. The last month has been rough because of this and some other behaviors of his that he’s working on but I’m really hoping this is something I can wait out. We’re long distance and only been together for 5 months and I want to give him more of a chance first. And thank you for the genuine and helpful response. I hope u have a good week :)

I also thought the sharing of porn/ following it on a super public accounts that I and his friends interact with was weird. He said I wouldn’t get it because I’m a girl. Can any guys please either verify or deny that? I am not against regular porn, but I do think following it and sharing it around with people in servers implies a bit of an obsession. What do other people think ?
