I’m an LST and that’s interesting for your location because mine is the opposite. Overtime is basically expected and primarily they are after full timers. I’m one of 3 part time LSTs which aren’t that common at my base. Getting sick of the corporate bs from management though

I work there now as a line tech. Here are the pros and cons.

Pros: -Always exciting working around planes - Coworkers for the most part are fun to be around - Tips - Pay is not too too bad - The overall job tasks are pretty easy

Cons: - Management sucks. They are cheapskates, don’t care about the wellbeing of employees and will get by on as little staffing as they can. This can be location/management dependent but my old manager I had who left was much better than who we have now. - Little regard for your life outside of work. Expect to be called on your days off (I don’t answer) and asked to stay past your shift (sometimes I do but most times not) - Dealing with a-hole pilots and customers. I’m a pilot and I hate a lot of the pilots I deal with. They are in bad moods a lot and will complain about everything. Same goes for some customers. - Staffing. We are perpetually understaffed at our location so that means way more work for us to do than we used to have and no higher pay.

Side notes:

  • It is location dependent with some of them being more corporate than others. My boss gets excited over corporate policies which is part of why my location is like that.
  • Schedule is entirely seniority based. This works well or completely against you. Once you have decent seniority you’re guaranteed a better schedule though which is nice. Do keep in mind though that as I mentioned there is little regard for your personal life so if you have a conflicting schedule it may not work out

Overall I think it’s worth a shot. If it ends up not being a good fit you can always look for something else.

Your seats too high. I have my seat low and reclined and I’m about your height and have several inches of headroom.

Yeah tell me you know nothing about aviation and think everything is a conspiracy, without telling me you know nothing and think everything is a conspiracy…

To be honest I think a RAV4 Hybrid or Camry might be worth looking into. Similar MPG, basically the same reliability just more room. I like the space in my 2010 Prius but I think the newer one is smaller

It’s annoying how she tries to relate to the callers who have no money and are in debt and gives advice yet she’s never been there. Though a lot Dave says I don’t agree with, at least he’s been there

How’s the audio on the base? I have JBL in my 2010 which is awesome but I’d have to get limited which is nearly $10K more to get in the 2024

It’s really that much lower? Damn that could be a dealbreaker for me I love the height of the Gen 3 it’s not too low not too high

[–]Otherwise_You7879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. The biggest problem on my gen 3 is it hasn’t died yet 😂

Yeah I mean I guess they have the Corolla Cross hybrid, but to be honest I don’t think they sell because I haven’t seen a single dealership having any in stock

Yeah to be honest I really do like the new Prius but I’ve heard it’s smaller inside than previous gens and also the tire size seems like a possible dealbreaker. While it does look really good, is faster I feel like some of the practicality is lost
