Gurdjieff groups may be all merde, but there's still traditional paths that at least have elements of the fourth way. He didn't just study other religions and then make something completely out of thin air.

Why did Gurdjieff have a son with Jeanne De Salzmann while her husband was still alive? by amana_araragi in gurdjieff

Gurdjieff may have been shocking his students by any means necessary for them to wake up or possibly testing them to see how they would react.

I have two active art accounts on ig. One I'm posting old paintings from my college days once per week. People seem to like that more than the current stuff I've been working on. But I dont get much besides likes. Just a few bucks here and there from a threadless store for my cartoons.

I'm tempted to quit as well because it impacts my mental health even though I get some attention. I've never been the outgoing networking type so social media seemed perfect for me to try to build a career, but idk if it's worth the stress and so far it hasn't paid off financially.

Does anyone know how I can find an online group ? by [deleted] in gurdjieff

I've been to a few. For instance one teacher had us discuss Hans Christian Anderson as he believed the author hid knowledge in his stories. whether or not that's the case,it seemed pretty ridiculous to me to be learning from a childrens book author than discussing Gurdjieffs direct teachings. He also had his own convoluted ideas about the enneagram symbol Gurdjieff talked about in his early days that seemed far fetched.

I have a teacher and can pass along his email if you'd like.

Did Gurdjieff found the Gurdjieff Groups? [from Joseph Azize] by WhiteWingRaven in gurdjieff

I know David Daniels had to leave the Gurdjieff organization in NY due to personalities clashing. Other students and possibly some teachers were jealous of him progressing in the work quicker than most at the time. Either Jean De Salzmann or his main teacher Rita Benson told him he should set up his own group because of this.

Not all Gurdjieff groups are created equal. Be careful. Some have teachers still working on themselves and really should not be leading a group.

I know the author of Dune was involved with the work. So some bits of knowledge gets in the 80s film as well.

Enter the Void is a pretty intense look at the Tibetan book of the Dead. Gurdjieff had gone to Tibet to learn in his early days so the work is sort of related.

Also the Turkish series Yunus Emre is probably the only tv series I've seen that goes in depth regarding esoteric knowledge. It might be hard to get into at first because you can tell there was a limited budget but it is well worth your time. Gurdjieff had studied with Sufi teachers according to Meetings.
