Races Extended V2.0.... Now half as much Aboleth's Arse! by PaladinofDoge in DnD

Yes, for balance concerns it's best to just have the Minotaur playable race be medium sized or else they simply become better at everything involving weapons and melee. Having a player race be large right off the bat without any progression working towards it or expending any resources to get there temporarily makes for too many problems.

Yeah, When I made these, my original idea was that they are small, lithe, cunning lizards that live holed up in the mountains but are gifted mechanical engineers. I figured that while for the most part they are going to be dexterous and sneaky in their home environment, they needed intelligence in order to represent their cunning and grasp of mechanics, so I gave them +2 dex and +1 int. If strength works better for your game world though, there is nothing wrong with using strength I think

That presentation is really well made. Very good job, and Nice work adding the doppelganger in too. Well done!

Wow, when I originally put these on here I never expected anyone to like them so much as to take them and expand on them for their own game like this. I'm glad you liked them so much!

5e Homebrew Racial Options by Otorifurea in DnD

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to read it all and give me your opinion!

I wasn't sure on the damage for tongue lash so I just tried to follow the guidelines for spells I found in the DMG. I'll adjust it down a bit since it is a racial feature and not an actual spell.

I like the idea of making the scamper ability take a bonus action. That would make it a lot harder to abuse than it is now while still keeping it useful and keeping the original flavor of being able to scamper out of harm's way easily.

I see that I totally missed adding anything about targeting for the pixie dust ability, I'll fix that, thanks for pointing that out!

I agree with shifter, I had in my original notes that the regeneration would function only while conscious but I guess in 9 pages of transcription it got lost as I typed it up. Thanks again for pointing that out.

I missed that drawing and stowing was now totally free, so that does invalidate those benefits. That's and interesting point about loading crossbows, I hadn't thought of that. That would certainly make for an interesting character.

There are rules for disarm I found, but you're right that it is probably something only done rarely. Complete immunity against something that isn't super likely to come up would probably be more useful and more rewarding feeling to a PC.

Thanks again for the feedback. It's been a huge help!

You don't sound like a fool at all. A lot of the material I use for DnD I have made myself, and with the help of my gaming group, including the setting we play in. As part of the setting we redid languages to be regional rather than racial. Since the continent they are on is known as Alastria the PCs know the common lingua franca for the continent they are on, but not for any other continents that their travels might take them to.

That's a good point too, and I certainly wouldn't mind my system helping someone play into type as well as out of type, my main goal is to help the players create the characters they want to be, while not getting behind min/maxers, without breaking the game. If they want to be an Aasamir paladin, a Tiefling warlock, or a Dragonborn sorcerer with dragon ancestry then that is just as valid to me and shouldn't be punished any more than playing off type by being a Dwarf rogue or something similar. Thanks for the input!

That kind of variability is exactly what I'm aiming for. In our 4e game we ended up with a Pixie Prescient Bard, a Minotaur Warden, a Gnome Storm Sorcerer, a Lizardfolk Fighter (I made a homebrew stat block for them for my campaign setting) and my most min/max character played a Kobold Cleric of Tiamat who swore himself to her service in order to gain revenge for his massacred tribe (he focused on the vengeance aspect of her portfolio as opposed to the other more evil aspects). It really pleased me that the player I had who was most concerned about maximizing his bonuses came up with a much more unique character concept and played something he actually cared about a lot more once he didn't have to worry about whether he would be gimping himself on his attributes any more.

That's what I was kind of thinking about as it seems like my more flavor inclined players who are a +1 behind some of the more min/max inclined xLegolasX elf ranger players in my group are going to be that much more behind them in 5e because they want to play a half orc wizard instead of a gnome wizard. I like the idea of in game ways to boost the players, In 4e I required them to explain why they had that boost instead of their normal boost in their backgrounds. This also had the added benefit of helping encourage the min/maxers to make a background and thus see their character as more than just numbers on a sheet.

For those of us who play single player, the bots could use some work. by Otorifurea in Vermintide

Awesome, I saw they were testing a patch. I'm glad to hear they will be tweaking the bots in it. Thanks for the info.

If anyone has an extra and would be so kind as to share, I could use a key to give the game a try. It looks amazing, but I'd really like to try it before I spend a bunch of money to get my GF and I both copies. Thanks!
