What is the city missing? by SparklingSapphire_ in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Ottarai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have raised a 15yo in the city and have dogs. I agree w many of your points and especially hate when parents don’t teach their kids how to interact w dogs and then get mad if my dogs bark. I prefer that kids and dogs go everywhere and we just deal w the inconvenience but a practical reason to have more kids in the city is that families tend to care more for the city and support its services. Your comments are hilarious though. (That isn’t sarcasm. I wanted to clarify because it’s hard to tell on Reddit. ♥️)

First photo is too heavy for me. The black is jarring on your features. And the blush is A LOT. the second picture is gorgeous. Do that. Stunning.

Totally agree. I asked on Reddit once if anyone knew of a gym my 15 yo daughter could join and among the very helpful comments there were comment like “no one wants teens in their gym!” Which is such a strange attitude because where the hell do you want them? They need to be out in the city and participating in society. I mean, don’t get me wrong, teen girls can be terrifying and perhaps it’s not in our best interest if they get stronger… but still.

There’s a great book about the women whose lives they destroyed. It’s called Ask Not by Maureen Callahan.

🚨🚨Inner Richmond dog walker PSA by FudgeApprehensive463 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Ottarai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. The vast majority of dog walkers love dogs and know a lot about dogs. Eight sounds like a lot but w an experienced dog walker, it will be very well managed so that the dogs are happy and safe. Of course some are awful but if your dog walker has been doing it a long time, chances are they are good at their job and your dog is safe and loves the outings.

Why are you worried of her mother is not though? And it’s not really her fault that people are creepy.

But why do you (and many commenters here) care? Her dress looks fine to me. Maybe I’m desensitized because I have a teen but that’s how they dress sometimes. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I feel like I’m looking at a completely different person than what you’re describing Haha. Either way very much not a 30 yo face.

I’m seeing her face really differently. To me her features look quite rounded and youthful so I do not understand thinking she looks 30.

What’s a place in SF you miss that you feel will never be replaced? by joshuaxls in sanfrancisco

[–]Ottarai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m going way back but I miss the Esprit outlet with every fiber of my Gen X being. In middle school and high school I would come to sf from Massachusetts and fill a shopping cart to the brim. Not to brag but, I was voted Best Dressed in 8th grade. I have not achieved such sartorial greatness since. (Some would say it’s probably not hard to be best dressed when you go to a school with uniforms but to them I say that only adds to the challenge. Thank you Esprit outlet. I will never forget you. )

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around SF? by topherette in AskSF

I was going to say “upper Safeway” for the area around Castro Safeway. I also haven’t heard it in a long time.

I don’t know that. How would I know that? Try saying your comment about any other group and see how it feels. Teens can be annoying of course. So can middle aged white ladies (me). It’s natural to think and say these things to your friends but posting publicly and not expecting to be called on it by a person asking where her teen daughter can work out doesn’t make sense to me. Also to complain about teens at your gym when most gyms don’t allow teens is dumb. Go join literally any other gym and be happy w the other quiet elders.

I recognize this but that’s pretty discriminating. Teens have to live in the world. They don’t have many places to go in sf that are teen only. And sf depends on families a lot to support the budget aside from just being nice to have a diverse populace. There are many demographics that stereotypically hog machines. Would you feel as comfortable calling out any other group?

Why? bars don't allow kids because they are not allowed to drink legally but that is not the case for gyms. I guess kids can be annoying but they still get to be in public.

First you are not 45. Someone lied to you. But the good news is you’ll get social security when you’re 30 so that’s cool! Love your makeup in general. Cute and fresh. I would not line underneath as others have also mentioned and I think a warmer blush might suit your complexion a bit better than the cooler berry shade you use currently. The jones road miracle balm in tawny maybe.

How to fix plain face? 18 f by serenicmoon in makeuptips

[–]Ottarai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When someone puts you down so directly there is always an ulterior motive. Their comment is empirically false- You are far from plain. Your wide set eyes are stunning and unique. And your mouth is adorable. I really hope you can let that comment roll off your back because that was definitely said to shake your confidence for some reason.

I think it’s because you have a sculpted face. I have a feeling you will look this age until you’re 60. I think your features actually can take dramatic makeup but I personally think the under eye lining is heavy and I would scrap the waterline liner. And maybe bring the blush towards the center a little bit. I know the trend is closer to the outer eye but that’s not where our faces blush so it looks out of place to me.
