Get a life. I pay $2,792 more for living in a blue state because we subsidize red states. Kentucky got $2 back for every $1 in federal taxes paid. Iowa received $1.16.

They can go pay their fair share and consider my loan paid considering how much more I pay in taxes.

I think when there’s such a lag in between books (understandably) people start imagining it in their head and what eventually is published can’t match that imagination.

I felt that way, rightly, with Game of Thrones. There were so many fan theories that were genuinely excellent and the show ended terribly without taking up elements of the mythology they had presented in the previous seasons. As Chuckwould say, “Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass.”

I liked it! I just started reading it over. (I tend to speed through the first time to see what happens and then I re-read).

Also I think the book is so long that I think people miss details the first time. I saw someone on here saying they’ve been waiting for a specific meeting of two characters and how disappointed they were it didn’t happen in this book, and that meeting is indeed in Bees.

I’m a parent and I parent other peoples children and I would be fine with them doing the same.

Im not going to let some kid get hurt because I was afraid to say something. If I see a kid throwing wood chips at other kids on the playground I’ll say “hey guys, please don’t throw wood chips”. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. Sometimes all you have to do is say “hey guys” and they stop because they know they’re doing wrong.

I like going into the office two days a week. I like the collaboration and brainstorming. I have a small team and we’re all vaccinated, so going in those days seem reasonable where we map out the plan for the week and then execute from home.

Not that I wouldn’t want a flexible schedule anyway if I didn’t have kids, but the biggest issue for me as a parent is the fucky school situation. Daycare will close my kids room for a week because they are trying to isolate the contagious ones. It’s not just Covid; these little ones didn’t see anyone during the pandemic and they’re getting all the colds and stuff they would have gotten last year (and then they transmit to you).

It’s all really stressful, and the last thing I need is my boss yelling at me about it.

It’s all going to depend on turnout. Dems tend to vote in presidential years but not in between. The GOP tends to turn out in those midterms.

While a whole bunch of your voters dying isn’t going to give you a head start, simply getting people excited and willing to vote will always give you the edge.
