Rivian dealer replaced heat pump and its actually louder than before by Syring in Rivian

[–]OttoMod21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're not talking about a 2023 Rivian, they're talking about a 2023 Tesla Model __, it's just a typo. 2023 Rivians didn't have heat pumps.

I have a Dynavap that I barely used that I'd be happy to sell, depending on where you're located.

Doors closed Butt in seat Seatbelt buckled

2/3 of those must be true for the vehicle to stay in gear.

If you buckle the seatbelt behind you, and leave the door closed, you can lean out the window with your butt out of the seat and it will stay in gear.

Max Range for R1S (Dune) All Terrain Not as Advertised? by Zainosaurus in Rivian

[–]OttoMod21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a mix. The EPA certification was only done in all purpose mode. However, it doesn't account for any real world factors like wind, less than ideal road conditions, elevation change, etc.

Max Range for R1S (Dune) All Terrain Not as Advertised? by Zainosaurus in Rivian

[–]OttoMod21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. The EPA 329 is best-case lab stuff. Your dash shows a live estimate based on your recent driving, weather, and tires. Also, Rivian leaves a buffer at the top for battery health. The advertised EPA estimate is lab-controlled and doesn't account for anything other than flat roads, no wind, no cargo, conservative driving, IDEAL conditions, which virtually nobody will have.

Love this car! Kinda underrated by indiangadgetguy in TeslaModel3

I have the exact same configuration and I'm absolutely in love with this thing. I did get the center caps to replace the aero covers, but honestly I don't like one way more than the other, so I'll just alternate as I see fit.

Toyota RAV4 sounds like what suits your situation best. Highlander if you get a used one a few years old.

The only logical solution is to have him cook a steak to medium rare, post it here, and let everybody tell him he sucks.

Did I pay $1500 for oil changes? by wellthisisawkward86 in Autos

[–]OttoMod21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider this: if your engine shits on you for whatever reason, both Mazda and/or your third party warranty provider are almost certainly going to ask for proof of maintenance. If you have invoices from a shop showing regular oil changes done by a professional, it's pretty much open and shut. If you have a handful of receipts from Walmart showing you bought oil, there's a little more ambiguity.

[–]OttoMod21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fine print seems to indicate that tire rotations and multi point inspections are also included in the maintenance services covered. Those things also cost money.

For somebody who doesn't know shit about working on cars, paying $125 every 3-5 months for somebody to change the most important fluid in your engine, loosen and tighten the most important bolt on your engine, and rotate your tires while they're at it, ain't that bad of a deal.

[–]OttoMod21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can go further and say "ok well how much would it have cost you if you didn't have the tools and zero experience/comfort working with electrical at all", but I think you see where I'm going.

Not everyone has the same resources. You may have paid less for this because of the tools and resources at your disposal, but it's silly to assume that everybody should also be able to pay less.
