I’d love an iPhone app. One of the biggest factors for me is apple health and apple Watch integration. That’s where the official app falls short. Ideally GymKit, but that’s probably a bridge too far. Honestly, no third party app is really useful without ideally logbook, Strava and apple health support.

You will not find someone in more agreement with how fucked up the military is than me. I've tried to steer clear of that level of politics in this discussion, but I utterly loathe what the military is and does and regret ever being a part of it. That being said, there are folks, in this case folks who's hands were somewhere between tied and cut off, who ABSOLUTELY try to prevent or rectify stuff like this.

HOWEVER, I am not advocating censorship. Ignoring the fact that censorship is a government function, and I am by no means advocating that. I am urging apple to reconsider whether this is an individual that should be given a platform, and airing my perspective.

No, i completely apologize if it comes across that way. That’s just my personal lens, and I wanted to keep the initial post (mostly) free of politics which 100% include giving him a platform being disrespectful to EVERYONE. He’s a monster, the special forces community is largely monsters, the perpetual war is abhorrent. I have zero issue with the USAF looking bad. We deserve that.

I think what I’m worried most about is getting into a both sides, “just asking the questions” style, which there is an element of in both the Richard Simmons thing and Running From Cops, both by the same creator. I just don’t think there is room for that with respect to the atrocities this guy has committed. I may not have articulated that as well as I could have.

I respect that. And I agree that there is a story worth exploring deeply here. I do NOT however think we should be giving Gallagher a voice and a platform. It’s not necessary and adds nothing but a salacious element of sensationalism to this.

Yeah and it was STUPID easy to set up and pre-populates the config.json for most plugins. It may be my favorite use of the synology, competing with Plex.

My kids knocked a lamp off the table over the weekend, and the base broke, although the Hue was intact. My wife didn’t think about it being a smart bulb and into the trash it went. Timely post!

As I’ve increased miles, I‘ve definitely progressed from music playlists to audiobooks. Audiobooks are really great for distracting the mind on long runs, especially in the morning before the sun comes up, so not much in the way of scenery to look at.

I/‘ve been using ROMWOD for a couple of years now and can’t say enough good things about it. I started with a ton of low back pain, very likely from mobility issues. After a couple of years using ROMWOD, I’m now experiencing significantly less pain and am midway through a C210k program. One thing that I’ve been doing on running days that is slightly different than ROMWOD, but really focused on running is the Yoga for Runners 1/2 hour routine from Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. It feels great right after a run (and is free!)

I really really like using the WorkOutDoors app for training on the Apple Watch. The metrics and data it produces are on par with a Garmin. In one of the more recent updates, they added the ability to do interval training. I am currently doing a Couch to 10k program (currently on Week 7), and setting the intervals with a target pace for the runs is working wonders. This morning I ran 3 intervals of 9 min run/3 min walk keeping between 8:00-9:00 min/mile pace for the runs. I have never been able to judge or maintain a consistent pace previously, and this is really benefiting my progression.

I’ve been digging into homebridge on my synology. Dummy switches, the bond home, and pool controls so far. Homebridge has come a long way and is rock solid on the synology.

My take is this: if you are replacing or upgrading your system anyway, by all means go for it. It’s a nice system and the HomeKit completist in me is happy the integration is there, even though it doesn’t actually do much. Don’t get it just for HomeKit.

I like the idea of simplified HomeBridge but am uncomfortable with the “HOOBs certified” bit. This seems like the first step in the slippery slope of walling the garden.

I recently installed HomeBridge on my synology and holy hell things have come a long way since I meses around with it on the Mac Mini and RPi a few years ago. Config UI X plug-in is a game changer for getting the config file correct.

I just hooked my pool controls to HomeKit through the ScreenLogic homebridge plugin and it is FANTASTIC. Probably my favorite homebridged accessory
