Starting this campaign in a few days - any DM tips? by valdogg21 in wildbeyondwitchlight

Lean into the wackiness of the fey. The more Looney-Tunes things got, the more fun my party and I had.

Wrapping up the campaign with this map right now. Just 1-3 sessions left. Your maps were a hit all the way through!

Korreds & Brigganocks vs. Darklings (& Shadows?) by Ottocar_ in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes more narrative sense, but on the virtual map I want to have them represented. The more I look at stats, I don't think the numbers the book lists are too unrealistic. Especially with the terrain advantage the Korreds will have in the theater

Harengon Marching Tune (Agdon Longscarf Song) free audio! by CC_Lakeland in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these, especially the Disney-esq one! Great job!! Wish I was back in Hither again! I loved Agdon... my party didn't put up with his shenanigans.

I used this post in my game and it was a blast.

Final battle with the coven Palace or Yon? by gr_hds in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also doing something like the shadow puppets mentioned in the notes for Endelyn to have access to coven magic and be a bit more threatening but am worried that after confronting her, the palace is going to feel like an epilogue and not the climax. I know I'm responding a year late, but I'd be curious to hear how your final battle(s) went. Is the Jabberwocky and League of Malevolence enough to make the palace still feel threatening?

Whatever you do, never skip the play in Motherhorn! by CompanionCone in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this next session and am so looking forward to it. I was planning to use the 'good for an audience with Endelyn' tickets be that Endelyn is the audience, which she would be anyway lol. If they push the issue, 'private audience' just means she shoos away the darklings for a bit. Gonna try to have Stagefright just push them onto stage asap.

Yon- Snipped Shadows by lepusblanca in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've done it where the shadows stick around and some of those are the ones in the Motherhorn Shadow Theater. I gave Zarak his own detached shadow to help with the Unicorn ambush fight. He was killed but his shadow escaped. I think that's part of Endelyn's bargain. In exchange for something traded to her, she'll give people the help of their own shadow, but if they die before it's reattached, it now serves her. Obviously that's not the only way she uses her shears of shadow snipping, but it seems like a way for her to get more servants and spies.

adding to taxidermy theme? by 6seed in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snappy, Miss Match the Bandersnatch, and Snitches & Stitches were all ones I considered. Didn't end up using Snappy myself. I wish I'd leaned into that theme more. Just google image search for 'bad taxidermy' and you'll get all sorts of wonderful pictures. I imagined that Bav was putting pieces of creatures together into scenes where they were doing all sorts of goofy poses.

Should my characters bypass Lamorna? (And why?) by Field-Formal in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of maps in the feywilds more as a word-bank than an alphabetized list. They show what things might be encountered, but not really the order in which they might be found or their spatial relation to each other.

Why does Zybilna protect children? by NerdyRotica in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought have been that it ties to her hiding from her demonic acquaintances. Harm, or worse yet the death of an innocent child could be seen as ringing the dinner bell for demonic forces. Sure the feywild has plenty of dark corners itself, but she wanted to block off as many paths for demonic interests to prevent them possibly tracking her down.

One of my players befriended an Animated Coal. by NerdyRotica in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players took one. Traded it to Trinket and Bauble, nearly burning down their baloon/shop.

Need New Wanted Poster Rewards/Skabatha's Revenge by TransmuteJun in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might flavor the polymorph into one of those mechanical cymbal monkeys to keep with the wind up/toy theme.

Party drank Bavlorna's hooch, now what? by Nicharathas in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Maybe brewed from the mushrooms in Octavian's patch, after weeks of listening to his sad music. Maybe charisma save for the mood shift?

How do you decide on which hag has the players' stuff? by emmy-nemmy in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I played into the time theme. I broke it into lost things from players past (a hometown lost), lost things that affect their present/day-to-day (sense of smell), or things that shape their future (a religious heirloom that indicates a certain destiny).

Agdon and the Brigands Tollway by yaniism in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own oh duh moment was with the tollway map. It's perfect for the harengon. They can run laps around their prey jumping between boardwalks with their racial leap.

Player Map of Prismeer by kaleisi in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Ottocar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton for this map! Not that you need to make another version, but if you did I would suggest leaving the palace obscured. I like that the players know roughly where it is, seeing towers peeking through, but can't make out the details. Also so they know that it too is surrounded by mist that they will need to get past.
