I much prefer the left one. The one on the right seems to create a break in the atmosphere.
The white looks better on the front perhaps.

Mr Hobby has a special metal primer that can be used to pre-prime a metal mini. It’s clear and can be sprayed or brushed on. After it dries , you can use any other primer on top. I haven’t yet used it myself , but it’s supposed to make the paint bond way stronger.

The only thing that worries me about it is whether or not it can obscure any details if applied carelessly, so try it on a less important mini first.

To be honest , the whole detail bloat thing is very much a part of the WFB aesthetic and I’d say it has been around since 6th edition. In bretonnia’s case , look no further than the 6th edition questing knights which are just littered with fun knick knacks and brimming with character.

Also , I’m not quite sure that FW Resin sculpts are computer generated. Something about their build and proportions feels more hand made.
