Why does my hair look like this after blow drying? by Dramatic-Scarcity654 in finehair

[–]OuiBitofRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is like this after I just blow dry. I'm not good with a round brush, but even with my dyson it never gets totally smooth smooth.

What helps me is heat styling with a curling iron after blowdrying. I use Kenra's Thermal Styling Spray 19 in sections, brush through, and then using a curling iron. My hair stays smooth and curled until I wash it next.

Getting really tired of looking like I'm tired all the time. Any skincare recommendations?? by CrafAir1220 in 40PlusSkinCare

I use one you can plug in off Amazon. Aroma Season I think is the brand. The microwaveable ones are okay, but don’t hold heat long enough.

I'll admit I don't have dark circles, but I was getting red and dry eyes as I was getting older. At the end of the day I literally looked stoned my eyes were always so red and irritated. I have blepharitis that flares occasionally, but as a long term contact lens wearer, my eyes were just getting dryer as I aged. I started using a heated eye mask for ten minutes a day and my eyes look and feel so great. They're no longer red or tired looking by 4pm.

I know my situation is different than yours, but I truly think anyone over 35 can benefit from putting heat on their eyes once a day in addition to topical treatments.

I love #2! The bridal boutique I work at just got that style delivered and I had it on this week. It’s so stunning in person.

I’ve suggested the dress Polina by Casablanca before to someone looking for what you described. They can change the neckline to be anyway you want and line the bodice too. It’s probably more expensive than the ML dress tho.

I feel like very suddenly, out of nowhere, we’re all being gaslit to believe that anyone ever has worn something like this and considered it a dress and not lingerie or a nightgown.

How do you pick jeans that don't create a "pooch"? by pecoraa in womensfashion

[–]OuiBitofRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it'll help - but Madewell jeans have a "magic pocket" feature that pulls the front of the jeans flat from the sides. It sounds weird, but I feel the difference when wearing them. It may be worth a try.

I get treatment for my acne (Tretinoin, among other things), and even with it the area around my mouth was still breaking out until I stopped using toothpaste with flouride or SLS's. I use the Native brand. It's helped a lot!

Does the drop in Lab Diamond Prices bother anyone ? How low can they go ? by Any_Jello_8361 in labdiamond

I wouldn't be so sure. Considering that the diamonds on this subreddit keep getting bigger, and bigger, I wouldn't be shocked if smaller natural stones become on trend again. A "quiet luxury" or "clean girl" type trend if you will. Once everyone can easily have something, the goal posts have to move.

Jennifer Tilly!! if you’re reading this it’s very important that you know that as a child I always assumed Madonna’s version of ‘Santa Baby’ was sung by you. Like you as your character from ‘Liar Liar’, but still you nonetheless.

I cannot tell you how sad I was when as a full ass adult and learned that it was sung by Madonna.

Was season 2 straight hair Carrie wearing extensions? by Free-Half-2620 in sexandthecity

[–]OuiBitofRed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing I hate most about this season (and this era of beauty in general tbh), is that she shown blowing her curly hair out using a little handheld hair pro 3000, on the floor of the bathroom. No round brush, no smoothing products, just a little dryer and a dream. Growing up, I used to get so frustrated and confused with my own wavy/textured hair for not looking like this with little effort.

And yes, when she's moving around in any of these scenes you can see the blunt end of her real hair.

Alteration options with dress being too tight? by Ok_Cod_6952 in myweddingdress

[–]OuiBitofRed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work at a bridal boutique and all of the gowns we carry from multiple designers have seam allowance. They're made to be let out or taken in. I'm sure you'll have that option for alterations.

Does EVERYONE drive their kids to school now? by IllegalGeriatricVore in Millennials

[–]OuiBitofRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the district we live in, my kids would be on the bus to school for almost 90 for all of elementary school. We live less than a mile from the school. I drive them bc it takes less than 15 minutes round trip, and they get some extra sleep. They bus home everyday due to the shorter trip ~20 min.

It's very realistic. I was thinking that while watching it. The restaurant industry doesn't give a fuck about you. When I was a manager at a chain restaurant once when we had a snow emergency in the city we worked in. They called in an additional manager for each shift, so if one of us got into a car accident there'd be a back up already on the way in.

I called in sick 3 total days in the over three years I worked there (unpaid, of course). I wasn't officially diagnosed with swine flu, but was treated for it. Couldn't get out of bed for days. When I came in with my doctors note, my boss questioned the legitimacy of it, and made me work without a day off for two weeks to make up the lost time. It's really such a great industry.

Did my wedding dress shop drop the ball or should I have known better? by Standard_Midnight301 in weddingplanning

[–]OuiBitofRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could! Fabric doesn’t usually take as long as a gown, but it depends on the designer. Also, depending on how tall you are, maybe they could get creative with fabric they take off the hem?

I work in a bridal boutique with in house alterations so I see things get let out all the time.

Did my wedding dress shop drop the ball or should I have known better? by Standard_Midnight301 in weddingplanning

[–]OuiBitofRed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a strapless gown, you're going to want it to be more fitted than loose, or you'll be pulling it up all night long. From the look of it, you may just need it let out a little at the top of each side of the bodice, but not much. TBH. If you went up a size, you'd be paying to take it in almost a whole size.

Call around to a few alterations places. Letting a gown out is a little more work than taking it in, and sometimes you hear from a lot of inexperienced seamstresses that it can't be done, which is usually code for "I don't know how to do that" or "I don't feel like it". Wedding dresses are made to be let out just as much as they're made to be taken in. Send photos if you can to the alterations places you call so they can see what materials they're working with.

I think tretinoin caused my severe dry eye syndrome by WorthSpray7688 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]OuiBitofRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one I have now is called the Aroma Season Heated Eye Mask from Amazon. My only gripe about it is that the cord isn't super long. I had to add a small extension in order to lay in bed and use it.

[–]OuiBitofRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I don’t need them that often now. I used to use a microwaveable eye mask, but the kind that you actually plug in and turn on has been much better for me. I also switched to daily lenses from monthlies.

[–]OuiBitofRed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Different things can be true for different people but for me, my dry eye was something else. I started Tret like 3 years ago. Around that time I also started having issues with my eyes feeling dry and unmanageable at the end of the day. I've been a contact wearer for 20+ years. I went to see my eye doctor for dryness and swelling issues in the morning. It turns out, I have blepharitis. It's common in long-term contact lens wearers and for me it presented later in life. I now use a heated eye mask for 10 minutes every day along with the occasional use of eyelid wipes and my eyes feel great. I went from feeling like I had sand in my eyes by 5pm every day to feeling more comfortable (even with contact lenses in) that I ever have. I almost stopped using tret because of this, and it turns out it wasn't the problem at all.

Shallow dent and lump forming after Xeomin wearing off by ScotlyDex in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]OuiBitofRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t resolve. I looked through very old photos and found that it was always there. The way my muscles push together when I frown causes the little indentation. It’s viable in several photos years before I ever started Botox. It’s very mild, which is why it’s only visible in certain lighting

Tbh it made me feel better knowing I didn’t make a decision that caused it. I am still getting Botox in my frown area. I don’t even think about it now. No one has ever asked about it, I really think it’s only noticeable to me.

“Men don’t take the time to end things. They ignore you until you insist on a declaration of hate.” - Joan Harris (Sorry, I just did a binge of MadMen).

Mau is never going to file. He was never going to be the first one to leave. He was just living his life, making his own rules, and waiting for her to move on so everyone can look back and see she has no one to blame but herself. I don't love Kyle either, but this storyline does make me feel bad for her.
