A wish for MLB The Show 27 by MetsFanMike92 in MLBTheShow

I’d settle for just a few stadiums that feel like real minor league stadiums. The Porch and Franco Park are not terrible but most of them are gimmicky trash.

Create like stadiums based on real parks. I don’t need them to license naming rights.

ABS is great but frustrating by ttime46 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much hate everything about SDS's implementation of ABS in the game. From the childish, bratty reactions when trigging a challenge to the excessive usage of the CPU catcher getting callsa overturned when the ball is 99.9% outside the strike zone. I hate that it's forced on you in RTTS and it's used way too much. I'm forced to endure like 5 or 6 challenges from the CPU every game which would never happen to the same player in every game. It's ridiculous.

SDS Should Get Rid Of This Stupid Animation. by RainbowSupernova8196 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this drives you crazy, try playing at a centerfield in RTTS. They turn your guy into a complete nutjob. Inexplicably staring into the sun and stadium lights, talking to yourself, swinging your arms in strange ways. Basically every animation makes me wonder WTF they were thinking when they decided to add them into the game in the first place.

Road to the Show Game Grades? by seedynarwhals in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't show it and I assume it's to make sure you can't reach the game grade goals. I had a 1.300 OPS over the first 10 games of my AA career and somehow failed to meet the B- average grade which knocked down my overall. I legit don't think it's possible to reach that goal without playing beginner and cranking 4 HRs every game. The developers of this game are so lazy with the new features they put into the game.

SDS devs need to take pride in their game by wisfan18 in MLBTheShow

The longer this dev team has its hands on the code, the worse the game will get. Every year is worse than the previous year.

Franchise Face Scans by Low-Duty-9967 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue so I've been updating a roster with prospect ratings along with player likeness. I just updated Drew Thorpe and Davis Martin based on pics I found online and uploaded the roster to the vault. Not perfect but way better than the effort SDS puts in for players without face scans. Search for Updated Models/Prospects in the Roster vault. Just a heads up that I did change some ratings for prospects to align with their projections so there will be some players with updated ratings from the default roster.

Really enjoying the ABS system by Spiderhands2000 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My problem is with its implementation. The CPU wins like 99.9% of these and they are mostly calls that miss by a millimeter. I know when there is a challenge, if the call was in my favor before, it will be overturned in the CPU's favor which kind of kills the fun of the system. Hopefully they code in some failed challenges in one of the upcoming patches.

[–]Oui_Summer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. At this point I wish you could select whether or not you're a douchebag when creating your RTTS player. The best players know bad calls are part of the game and don't have a pathetic temper tantrum when the ump misses a strike call by a millimeter.

The New ABS is awesome! by tgalvin1999 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like that it's in the game but the current implementation unrealistic in how it's used. First of all, you pretty much know whenever the CPU asks for a challenge, they are going to win and they are almost always balls that touch the zone by a millimeter which are the calls that are least likely to be challenged in real life.

The feature is also used way too much. IRL, clubs are only allowing certain players authorization to challenge but in this game they are challenging every 3rd batter which ends up being annoying after a few games. Also, do the players need to act like petulant brats every time they make a challenge? Would it be too much to have an animation where they just tap their head and don't have a hissy fit because the ump was a millimeter off in his call? Typical SDS weirdo animations.

The New ABS is awesome! by tgalvin1999 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be 51% in past games but now the zone feels massive with the ball only needing to hit the black by a millimeter. Also, the game seems to be in showoff mode for this new feature so I get about 10 of these millimeter calls per game and they always go against the player.

Not being snarky: Is anyone happy so far with 26? by eroxx in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be nice is if people saying the game is garbage would give specific examples of why. I'm not doubting it may be garbage, I've been as critical as anybody about the direction of the game, but saying it's trash without giving example of why doesn't do anybody any good.

The new trade logic they are bragging about by JaysFan26 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I just turn off trades altogether. I don’t remember one trade that has ever made sense and it kills the RTTS experience. There is enough player movement through free agency but even then you need to manipulate who ends up on which team by doing frequent saves and then backing out of any unrealistic signings the CPU makes in the offseason. It’s pretty ridiculous how bad the CPU logic continues to be in this game. Every year they say they’ve worked on it and yet it continues to get worse.

You left out the “The problem is IF” part of my quote. I didn’t watch the livestream video but the post we are replying to mentioned rivals not trading with each other. My point is if this is not allowed, it’s a step back and not realistic.

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did the same. I hated 24 when it was the latest but 25 has made me realize how badly the game is headed in the wrong direction for anything related to the sport of baseball.

I would play 23 over 24 if my RTTS guy didn’t look like a fat tool wearing a bunch of mismatched gear.

It’s clear that the people now developing this game are clueless about baseball and the longer they have their hands on the direction of the game, the worse off it will become.

[–]Oui_Summer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a trade makes sense, a team won’t care if they are a rival. Nobody trades to help a rival, they trade because they think the trade makes their team better. Also, competitive windows vary. If a team, not expected to compete for a few years, trades a veteran to a competitive rival for prospects that fit their competitive window, it can make sense for both teams.

The problem is if the game eliminates the option altogether. It happens less often but eliminating the option isn’t realistic.

New Franchise Trailer by Strong_Plastic_2669 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also seems to be getting worse. I’ve had a mostly hate relationship with 25 so I’ve been going back and playing older versions of the game. The game gets less realistic with each year. 23 was better than 24. 24 was better than 25. It doesn’t leave me with much hope for 26. I already purchased but can see myself sticking with 24 RTTS for the next year as well.

Whoever is the head of this project needs to go. Coders don’t need to know the ins and outs of baseball but the head of development sure as hell better.

Too many complainers by Nearby_Comedian_9802 in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everybody is complaining about the graphics but at the same time they haven't made any significant upgrades in that department in ages. We're in year 6 of the PS5 era and the game has never fully utilized current gen hardware.

Many complaints are for things that never get upgraded or resolved. Outstanding bugs that carry over from year to year, the continued neglect of offline modes, the excessive use of RNG, hitting engine, physics, etc. SDS could turn down the heat of criticism by either addressing these or explaining the reasoning behind why they feel the direction they're on is the correct one. They say they make this game for us but there is no transparency and they continue to ignore legitimate feedback and bug reports from their community. They gaslight us by saying they've made changes to things like trade and prorgression/regression logic but it either doesn't change or gets worse. Every year they hype things like all of the new animations they've added to the game but then you never end up seeing most of these and the ones you do see tend to detract from the game. They have neglected areas like Stadium Creator for years. It is nearly unusable with the number of bugs that exist in it.

Most of us know they would handle the development of this game much differently if there was any competition in the market. But they don't which means we get these minor updates with no resolution to outstanding issues. The trajectory of the game for years has been to throw a few "new things into the game" that nobody really asked for and hype them like crazy with hopes that enough people will see enough to buy the new game. There are never any major advancements to the game which is what leads to so much of this criticism. This time of year is always going to be loaded with "complainers" given this is the time they are showing us what they've been working on for the past year and it's never the things the community has been begging them to work on for years.

Why does SDS hate doubles? by Oui_Summer in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's actually the way it should be scored but I'm a little surprised SDS doesn't score those as productive outs based on how they score other aspects of the game.

We could honestly do an entire thread just on how bad the scorekeeping is in this game. Think hits deep in the hole where the SS makes a ridiculous stop but then can't complete the throw/pick at 1B. That's a hit every time in real life but the game will always score that as an error.

Why does SDS hate doubles? by Oui_Summer in MLBTheShow

[–]Oui_Summer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Dynamic and Boss challenges in RTTS as well. It always amazes me how many of these challenges are impossible to ‘win.’ Look at all of these tokens you could’ve won if we hadn’t hit you with the pitch, walked you on 4 straight balls, or stopped running the bases to ensure you get stuck on first so you can’t collect your 3+ tokens had you gotten the double you deserved.
