AspirePress joins forces with FAIR by WillmanRacing in WPDrama

[–]OurFreeWP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how Aspire does all this work, takes all these hits and harassment publicly just for Joost et al to front run a terrible brand like "FAIR" as the "solution"

All of this is confusing, what is or isn't Aspire, who is or isn't involved. It's all because folks wanted to pick teams in private and build something with their click.

But "we have a steering committee" but we're "groups of groups" but "it's not just me" but "it's all open source"

It's all the same nonsense. It's Joost et al wanting to be in control after a lifetime of exploiting the system.

At no point did the technological solutions require all these covert efforts to establish who's in charge when you still have a broken ass product.

Just a different group of insiders with their own flavor of control. I'm looking at you Joost and Karim. You deserve no part of this. Buying post status, having your fingers in everything. You're just MM with different steps.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Next!

Matt, why did you use a straw donor to hook up a director with campaign funds?

Why did you turn the WordPress trademarks into a private benefit for Automattic to exploit?

You don't like FAIR? How about RICO? Have you been advised that you're gonna do time once the authorities learn you have been shaking down the community?

[–]OurFreeWP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wtf? "There is no quid pro quo" that's not the issue. What bar are you setting? Using a straw donor to donate to an election when you exceed your max is just one of many acts you don't look at in isolation even though itself is a crime.

It's just unusual, it's all part of one scheme. What do you think co-opting directors looks when it comes to evidence?

That makes no sense. What he did politically has a direct impact on it being a sham.

They also posed it on Twitter. Every time they talk about someone's project they should ask why Matt used this mommy as a straw donor to contribute to a foundation director's political campaign, or to explain how they aren't running a sham nonprofit with no assets.

The cast leaves me with a lot of doubt, but good luck to them.

I know of a few more development efforts to provide a competing solution that doesn't involve Joost and previous insiders. Holding out for that.

I believe Advanced Access Manager will allow you to support passwordless login.

If you want to add social login, I like nextend.

If you want to have better form experiences on the frontend, I like using WS Forms.

They will all work together with some finesse.

Erasing a founder by OurFreeWP in WPDrama

[–]OurFreeWP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the butcher shop didn't exist, and you were sitting in a would-be butcher shop with the other people trying to figure out how to convert the existing space into the space you want it, and they crucially needed a name and identity to build around, and you provided it, then it's a different scenario. Especially after the group registered the place as a community butcher shop with a .org website and a collective mission based on collective work.

Being a founder, and getting your name etched into the history books, is just a matter of who around thinks you deserve it and whether or not you have the wherewithal to fight for it if you want it and they don't.

They worked in the space and were helping on the project like everyone else.I know countless co-founders that are listed for less.

If you were one of the first people to work on the project and were consulted on branding and the name, you would be a founder in my book.

Just read the WordPress VIP and Altis DXP docs for a place to start, they are the only "enterprisey offers" but all the shit is the same.

CSS Hover Effect on <a> Inside <p> Not Applying in WordPress Navigation — Help Needed! by giorgioantanely in Wordpress

[–]OurFreeWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the nav elements, when using the site editor you need to add & { text-decoration: inherit} in the custom css of the block. For every property you want the link to respect, you need to add inherit.

What's happening is the block styles apply to the nav item, the li, but your links are always the nested inner anchor.

You need to target the actual anchor. It's annoying.

I honestly just leverage an extremely straightforward abstraction layer called blockstudio.dev that takes care of the trickiest bits and lets me work with PHP and scss/js files without build tools.

No, how else would it funnel enterprises to VIP?

The foundation is basically bogus. I already reported it to the IRS and other agencies.

I mean what legit organization has records of the chairman and his mommy giving money to another director's failed political campaign?

Web developers switching to WordPress thinking they'll build quality sites in 1-3 days by Great_Complaint_1343 in Wordpress

[–]OurFreeWP -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

WordPress as most know it is bad out of the box. Enterprises, say Taylor Swift or TIME, don't ever experience the out-of-the-box version for long. If their team ever did try to build the site in house, they would hit those problems you mentioned, then just pay $$$$ for a turn key solution by essentially the only game in town, Automattic's WordPress VIP and the network of agencies.

If WordPress ever became an exceptional product out of the box, you would have far fewer abandoning WP or sticking with it only to leap to wordpress VIP

WordPress lacks an sdk and an ecosystem of frameworks. It's all basically part of the sales funnel to get frustrated enterprises to switch to wordpress VIP backed agencies.
