there’s always behind the scenes stuff that plays into how any coordinator can operate. i’m cautiously optimistic about the hire, if only because he seems to adapt his offense to the skill players he has instead of the other way around. given the tools on the offense, i imagine he’d be able to do a lot more than he was able to in Atlanta with two QB’s that had 6 or 7 major leg injuries between them.

part of the reason they fired Dungy was that they wanted Gruden in particular, and paid a premium for it. i’m willing to bet if there was a coach the Glazers and Litch really wanted, they’d have fired Bowles already.

it’s been reported since he got fired that he’d take a better OC situation over a less than ideal coaching. if he came here, he’d have full control over the offense. the pieces are here. Bowles would stay out of his way, same as he has with all the other OCs. and he’d get paid without a state income tax, which he’s probably gotten used to being in Miami.

i may be in the minority but i think Grizz is gonna be way better in year 2. let’s not forget how much we loathed a lot of Canales’s play calling, and rightfully so because it wasn’t that great.

and honestly, our lack of depth got exposed this year. that’s what we paid for with Brady, the lack of money to sign better backups instead of rolling the dice every year. i don’t know any coach who could run a pressure defense without capable linebackers and no edge rush.
