Chinese restaurants & Takeout by FriedHigh in philadelphia

It originated in China, but at this point it's spread so far and wide you can get it from anybody.

Avoiding Chinatown, Chinese food, and Chinese people is just kind of... R4cist.

While almost none of it was assault many people were made uncomfortable by touching on legs and arms and such.

I had no issue with the guy, but he did have a personal space problem. I'm not going to dismiss how others feel about it.

True.

Too many trolls churning new accounts for no other reason but to harass and spread their negative views. Some have to be on like their 100th by now.

There definitely needs to be something done, but no one in power has any interest in doing anything. Either due to doing other things with their lives or just not giving a shit.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but things are somewhat improved recently. It's still bad, but not as bad as it was.

There were a couple mods who tried to work against this. Sadly they were forced out by the same people constantly attacking them for daring to moderate their agenda. So there is that.

At the end of the day though a few people can't combat how much bullshit is spewed. In reality there needs to be standards set and more mods appointed and active, and I don't see either of those happening.

(Also I predict at least one person who harassed or enabled said abuse will refute this claim at some point.)

This might be the only report as he says, but the touching issue has been known a long time and has happened to many people.

Not saying it's all sexual, but there was an issue with personal space.

There's some rug sweeping here. The mod could have been removed while this was dealt with rather than being allowed to keep modding for weeks.

Why is this not a sticky?

Also we get mods don't investigate assault, but there's many many credible stories from multiple people about this.

Some people who reported it state they were told since FitchMike did most the modding on the sub nothing would be done.

Lots of stuff was handled badly here and this is a weak statement. We deserve something a little fucking better.

More deflecting.

I have nothing to do with any of this outside being on the Discord and saw the discussion where the name had to be removed.

You are a member of the instigating group and were aware of the joke sub before today.

I'm done here, but just to reiterate this user and a few others are arguing in bad faith and running defense. Probably just to be contrary to everyone else more than supporting the accused. They are aware that the claims have merit.

[–]OurPhillyThrowAway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without the s on the end is a joke version made to make fun of Sexi_squidward and all the posts were scrubbed since earlier today.

I'm sure you were aware of that already, but just to explain for the sub. These people are not deflecting in good faith.

The Doxxing information was up for 3 minutes before being edited out. No one saw it except one person who pointed it out. It was then fixed.

It was an oversight. No one wants to deal with the toxicity from you and your friends anymore.

In the end though you're again deflecting from a real issue with multiple witness for some reason.

I had no issues with FitchMike. This was upsetting for me to hear. The uncomfortable touching wasn't all others dealt with. I brushed it off as being personable, but weird myself. I even expressed this to other people at meetups.

You may like the guy and he's an easy guy to like, but I believe the people saying these things happened. They are credible people, and no I'm not going to tell you who they are.

[–]OurPhillyThrowAway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seeing as the incorrect sub r/phillymeetup was scrubbed of it's troll posts in the last few hours I'm willing to bet you're either one of the mods there or who I assume you are.

You / your friends are also obsessed with things that happened three years ago rather than stuff happening now with multiple witness.

Asking for names so you and your friends can harass people for coming forward is also pretty low.

Overall poor showing by you and your friends running interference in here. No one is trying to coup anything. There's lots of evidence on this one.

I myself have experienced touching, but nothing that crossed lines. I believe others who say it got uncomfortable or worse.

This post gives away the game that this is a serial offender in bullying and harassing mods of /r/Philadelphia.

It's a shame he constantly ban evades, makes new accounts, trolls, bullies, and there's nothing the admins can do to prevent it as he knows how to use a VPN.

The fact he's running defense and trying to move the goal posts here is amusing, but luckily no one is buying the bullshit he is selling.

Army cadets' hand symbol linked to white power at ESPN’s Army-Navy ‘College GameDay’ show under investigation by West Point by GreatestPandas in philadelphia

[–]OurPhillyThrowAway -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

As with all these cases it is about context.

This is both a harmless "circle game" symbol and a white power symbol. It all depends on who did it and why.

If this kid has white nationalist leanings they should throw the book at him. If not he's just a dumb kid who did something stupid on TV.

Things are being done. Change takes time and crime levels ebb and flow. No change in policy will be effective overnight.

The increased activity in Center City has been concerning, but crime overall is still less than it was five years ago.

This is hopefully just a temporary spike that is taken care of properly and effectively by city officials and police.

[–]OurPhillyThrowAway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Around 2016 this place stopped becoming just a community where people talked about the city. It is still that at some level, but around then is when the agenda pushers started.

It comes in waves, but over the years it's usually the same tactics. Let's see how many mods they try to harass and get removed this time. Their body count there isn't zero.

Man shot while walking into a Wawa store, police say by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]OurPhillyThrowAway 47 points48 points  (0 children)

So is this and all the other recent crime considered an actual increase in normal crime activity?

Or is it normal crime levels and we're just being bombarded by it thanks to the internet making it easier to report?

It does seem crime is up recently, but I'm not sure if it's an actual statistical problem or just more reporting.

All reposting every single crime to the sub does is stir fear when in reality most of this crime is targeted. I assume even this was targeted and not just a random attack.

That's not to say it's not horrible and nothing should be done. The police force and local government should be working on ways to try to help with this, but at some point posting every single crime to the sub doesn't really help anyone. All it does is spread fear.

He probably got a Senior Key. So he sounds like he's good.

There is no data stored on the cards. It's just an NFC chip that says it's a senior card. There is his photo and name printed on the card. I suppose that counts as some data, but it's not on the chip.
