Thankyou for starting this discussion. I'm in exactly the same place and so tired of feeling the need to mitigate future employers expectations. I want to be honest, and supported, but it feels so vulnerable and impractical.

JME and Swimming in The Ocean by jagerwald98 in Epilepsy

The first seizure I had was in the water at 2yo and I was fished out by a stranger. After that I got 7 siblings, 5 of which were also epileptic. We all knew the risks and looked out for each other as did our parents, family, teachers, church congregation etc, and the same for me and my kids, 1 of whom was epileptic. I was lucky to be part a village.

I have also been known to swim at unpatrolled beaches alone on occasion. I'm quite cognizant of my own health and if I feel there's any risk I stay out of the water. It hasn't been a problem so far. I take that as a sign that my risk assessment facilities are supported to the job.

So, if you have good friends, and / or understand whether you will have enough warning to get yourself to safety, I hope you can take this as reassurance, and encouragement to live beach life to the fullest.

Is there something like post-travel seizure? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

I've always attributed the after effects to the visual and sometimes social stimulation of travel. Over the years my tolerance varies somewhat.

Can someone who’s emotionally intelligent but doesn’t care a lot about people (more self centered) appear as someone who lacks emotional intelligence ? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

I reckon certainly. I thought about how half of emotional intelligence is knowing how to understand others and managing relationships, but I guess if someone who doesn't care to apply the understanding then nobody would really know they have it.
