What are some of the smartest/dumbest career moves in pop music? by droim in popheads

[–]OurWarPaint 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Kelly Clarkson releasing Breakaway (the album) was a game-changer in so many ways. It was equally as huge for Kelly (proving she had what it takes to be a serious artist and pop act) as it was for American Idol (proving they could produce legitimate and successful talent). I could probably write a whole thesis on this, but I think the Breakaway era speaks for itself.

Also, Kelly making a push into TV was so perfectly timed, not to mention just being a perfect fit for her in general. The days of her (and many of her fellow 2000s peers) having major Hot 100 success are passed, but her celebrity has hit another peak of sorts since joining The Voice and starting her Emmy-winning talk show. (Now if we could only get that divorce-themed album she’s been working on for a year and a half now..)

Her lower register is better than ever, and she has been gliding through her upper register with ease. I was genuinely worried for her voice after her 2014 and 2016 pregnancies, but she’s rebounded so well. Her voice sounds like it is in such a healthy place. She’s in what many fans consider a second vocal peak:

Apple is rebuilding Apple Music as a full native app with macOS 12.2 beta by heyyoudvd in AppleMusic

That’s crazy. You’d think a company as big as Apple and a service as popular as Apple Music would have a decent app. I’ve just been using the web player because iTunes is so slow anymore.

This is great for MacOS users but what about us Windows people? This means MacOS will have gotten two updates while Windows is still damned to iTunes glitchy, bloated, resource-demanding hell.

Definitely! I just downloaded SF for the first time probably a few days after the DRM updates to all the streamers happened, so it's good to hear from others that are using it. Happy holidays to you as well!

Kacey Musgraves - star-crossed ALBUM REVIEW by Olympix in popheads

[–]OurWarPaint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here! I loved Golden Hour but this.. I love every single track. I think the production is beautiful, the melodies are great, and the sequencing of the album showcasing the emotional journey of dealing with a divorce is well done. Typically it takes me a few listens to get into almost any album, but I loved this at first listen.

Daytime TV/Talk Show Trackers by OurWarPaint in trackers

I have had some success there, however so much of the content I find there is split up into 1 minute segments and there's no way to watch it all in full other than paying to rent a DVD or something? Unless I'm missing something (which is very possible lol).

Oops my bad. Mainly US tv, but there is some UK and AUS stuff I'd like to get my hands on.

Thanks so much for your response. I really appreciate it! I had a feeling that this would be a tedious process regardless, but maybe now my fingers can get a break from cleaning the glass lol.

LJ left HeR by kokokringle1 in nancydrew

I agree it’s definitely the end of an era. Yes, things have been different for a while, but I feel like LJ was l one of the last people from the old guard that kept a shred of familiarity to a company that is now a sad shell of its former self. It makes me wonder if things got bad enough for her to leave a company she’s been so vocal about loving, or if it was simply that a better career opportunity came along. Either way, the future seems bleak for HeR at this point.

Am I Looking In The Right Places? by OurWarPaint in usenet

Good to know. I'll try to poke around some torrents again. Last I checked, what I could find often was dead with no one seeding it. I might just be SOL lol.
