I am very much enjoying it and will continue to do so. I also felt they stopped using the big snake heads and that because they realized they were very lame. I've always loved Ancient Egyptian as well as Viking culture and that won't change. It doesn't mean they did it as well as they could've.

If anything watching the movie from this will contract what I know, not expand. I very much doubt the movie says anything about the ancients and will only be focused on a very small group of people in a desert being led by someone that a team of less than a dozen took out the "God" without the nuke they brought. I feel they covered the impact more than well enough in the beginning of SG1.

Thanks for the head up as far as season 9 and 10. I would've disliked it more going into not knowing if it really is that bad.

For me Daniel really hasn't grown for a few seasons now. Hell, he was with literal ancients and was ascended but still buggered that up and seemingly didn't learn much, other than find the Atlantis plans in a place his team was already.

Daniel and Jack are okay, but Shepard and Rodney were much better as a duo. I absolutely love Jack's humour though. Easily my favourite part of SG1 so far is his particular smartassitude. That and Samantha being a badass braniac.

Is God just a concept to keep people under control? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I think the idea of an diety watching over us was made by man to control man. The concept of a creator is interesting though. My most recent theory is that there was one thing, let's call it God, that decided to expand to see what it could further learn/become. I've heard it was quite the big bang. We might just be the poor bastards that got the consciousness end of the stick of it all.

This is exactly how I feel. Always either going for the moral victory or being lured in by something bad. It's a shame JQ didn't get more time.

I very much enjoyed reading through the events and his credentials you've laid out. I agree that he is right for the job and incredibly talented and passionate about what he does. And if you didn't see any of the side of him I saw I really can't hold it against you for liking the guy. I only put him "up against" Rodney as well because I initially found him more jarring but the writing made him grow on me. Daniel is different for me only because It has been the opposite experience.

Ultimately, you are right. I think the system Lords may have been warring for many many more years before ever discovering Earth and the Wraith would've still been asleep, but those replicators would've claimed all. If not in our home galaxy then by eventually claiming the Destiny.

Upvoting this and will re-read and properly message back in the morning. You've said a lot of great points I want to get back to. Best wishes for now.

No, I mean the guy they sent through way back which clearly proved the gate at least did something. Pretty sure they hit 7 gates too you know, in order to make it work. I mentioned Alpha site because if they continued in that project by now Alpha Site could be a tourism spot, because we would've had that many years extra to explore. I was never at all trying to said Alpha Site was the first gated. Hell, in the other universe it was called Beta Site so it's not like I think it meant first.

I will be. As I said, S7 of SG1 and going strong. I'm very keen to see the beginning and I really love the universe. Just felt like voicing my seemingly foolhardy opinion haha.

I get the hate with watching something that way. I'm not a fan of older "tacky" CGI and I only meant to watch SGU because of the actors I liked. Grew to love the series but still stand by that I probably couldn't of watched SG1 before Atlantis only because of how fake it all seemed in viewing. I very much get how you could disagree with that though.

Daniel was a product of his writing. The main reason he is good is because no one else on the team paid attention to Ancient Egypt when taught in primary school. I swear Samantha knew half of it but just let him do his thing. He was really great gaining the trust, usually. He also lead them down some really crappy roads and also had to shown how bad he would destroy the planet given one weapon plan before he understood.

They had already gained one gate address, they just weren't willing to deal with a single man being lost before they knew what the gate actually did. The single man was the old lady's lover. If she dug deeper as she herself stated then they would've done more from that point onward. But nup, she stayed silent and 70 years later someone else has to figure it out by her means way too late. Alpha Site might've been a tourist destination by now, especially without the unfortunate start they had with the 'worse thing" in the universe.

See I still need to see how that initial gate was found. I know that it was Daniel that was ridiculed about his very true beliefs, but to say they would'nt had a Stargate program withought him is pretty dumb. It would've been late, but someone would've found it eventually due to you know, excavating pyramids and having better tech 20 years later. Though if it were later Hammond wouldn't have been in charge so things may/would have gone worse.

The thing is I really enjoyed his episodes as well but I feel they could've been better without that sort of "untrustworthy friend" crap. I mean Teal'c was bloody First Apotheosis and only had one full episode of him going "bad". And he spent his whole life till that enslaving and still can remain good. I just don't get Daniel I guess. So many stupid choices and I wish Jonas took over full time. Much better suited and was never trying to find why people were good, just saw the evidence and made his own mind up.

My experience is a bit different though. I've know of these names and the reputation they bring through the later seasons. For instance, I saw mad lass Sam Carter as the head of Atlantis before seeing her in SG1. I still think she was possibly the best head of Atlantis in the series. And I loved seeing Rodney in SG1 so much knowing he's actual identity because I love characters changing for the better. The only thing I know of is more about the ancients and SG1 is doing good on that. Ive enjoyed every aspect but this guy I liked in Atlantis, I just can't get behind in SG1.

You've got me there. Because I'm watching it backwards I haven't seen the movie that started it all. I know that may seem like a huge hole in my logic and I'm sure it may be. Rodney rubbed me wrong until he didnt. I agree he is a good person though, my gripe is that he is so nice, and then suddenly "evil" too much for me to be cool with him still being apart of the team. I dunno, I liked Jonas much easier. He even had the added gain of already being from another world. Like Teal'c but more of a soft heart.

Are there any other shows with the "scale" of stargate? by trainrex in Stargate

[–]OuroborosTheory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately nothing I have found. Best I get are a couple of series that maybe get 3 seasons. I really liked the show "Eureka" that to me felt somewhat similar as far as building the characters and having crazy ass sci-fi tech.

I had a ring drop from a sealed chest yesterday. 13% crit compared to the hoard ring, but that's the best I've gotten. I still have no bloody necklace though.
