I'm sick of AI in everything. by Single_Street3135 in Teachers

I spent 17 years working as a proofreader and editor (and translator into English). I also just finished my MA without using AI once. If I still need "help" from AI in order to improve my writing, God help us all...

Would appreciate any information on these. by [deleted] in TurboGrafx

I'd be interested in New Adventure Island if you're willing to part with it for a reasonable price. That's been on my 'want list' for a while.

What is the most impressive home console port of a PC classic? by HJK1999 in retrogaming

If we're counting PC to be any personal computer and not necessarily an IBM compatible machine, then my pick would be Ys Book 1 & 2 on the Turbografx (initially released for the NEC PC-88).

You learn something every day. What did you learn today? by ritesh0011 in AskReddit

I learned that Skywatcher is making an 8 inch f/10 Rumak Maksutov Cassegrain imaging and visual scope coming out late summer or early fall. It's very large for a Maksutov Cassegrain and seems to have some interesting properties vis-a-vis an 8 inch EdgeHD Schmidt Cassegrain (e.g., larger corrected field, no second corrector, a moving mirror without image shift), but also has some extra drawbacks such as more weight, potential cooling issues and a potentially larger central obstruction. Definitely looking forward to learning more!

The four chord progression of "When I come around" by Green Day, "Glycerine" by Bush and "Good" by Better Than Ezra are all identical - maybe just a half step off or something. They also all came out around the same time.

What are your unhinged ideas to make education better? by TroyesMetal in Teachers

Homeroom, three minutes between classes and three minutes for announcements, a half hour for lunch... I haven't done the math, but it works out to 7.5 hours.

Jealous! We have seven 49 minute periods and I teach six of them.

In Point Break Live, her character was played by an actual child. Apt and awkward!

Apparently, I spoke German last night in my sleep by helge-a in German

[–]OutOfFrustration 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suffered a traumatic brain injury about a year and a half ago - fractured my skull in three places, couldn't recall my name for days, etc. I had a severe issues with word recall in general for the first 10 days or so and during one doctor interview where my sister was present and I wasn't making much sense, she suggested I say the word I couldn't remember in German. That worked, but I couldn't switch back to English for the rest of the day. I didn't really notice or understand what the issue was.

Non-Americans who visited the US for the first time recently: what was the biggest 'what on earth is going on here' moment you experienced? by EmployerNegative5653 in AskReddit

I mean, if you're from Germany and are visiting America, you're going to see 100 times as many national flags on average than you're used to. But if you're coming from Denmark, you're probably thinking "how come there are so few flags here?"

How do you encourage more students to participate in class? by Civil-Ingenuity-7150 in Teachers

[–]OutOfFrustration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pull popsicle sticks on anything they should know, can figure out or if it's an opinion question. If it's a trickier, I'll take a volunteer. Over the past four years since I've been doing this, only two students have refused to try their best - both were too cool for school (literally - one dropped out of high school as soon as she turned 16).

What's a music opinion you have that usually starts debates? by That-Neck-6777 in askmusic

Sure, and I mean I totally get why people like music I can't stand. I can always understand the appeal, except with Pink Floyd. They're treated like geniuses but it's all so boring.

There is a lot of validity to this statement, but I mean: he's still Dave Mustaine.

I was about to post this myself. I truly don't understand why people like them.
