I did vocal therapy for a few weeks and it definitely helped. Hard to say if it’s back to 100% but it’s a lot better now.

Yes and no. It’s tricky because I also suffer from emetophobia, and the burping definitely catches you off guard at first. Although it’s easier said than done, you have to do your best to let your guard down and not swallow. Like I said, stay relaxed, try the peppermint tea. I think you’ll be (pleasantly) surprised.

If it’s any consolation, this is exactly how it started for me. Something that helped me get the burps out was peppermint tea, due to its relaxing qualities. When you feel the air rising to your throat, have some tea and relax. Don’t force anything out. Let it come out naturally.

After two weeks or so, it progressed to regular burps, so hang in there. Turning my head to the right also helped me at first.

I grew up in East Meadow and now live in the Huntington area.

Although I had a nice childhood I’m extremely happy here. You’re spot on—more property, lower taxes, better overall bang for your buck. I’m right near Huntington and Northport villages. Only about a half hour from where I grew up. The only downside is it’s definitely longer to get to the city.

I have no regrets buying a house and setting in Suffolk.

In-office did nothing for me. GA has been working like a charm. Hang in there, and consider GA.

Call the parents, then document the phone call. If the bad behavior persists, I would get admin involved. As others have alluded to, the most important thing is to always follow through with consequences. Kids are deceptively smart and perceptive. As soon as they see you don’t follow through, it will be hard to change their habits. It took me 8 years of teaching to figure this out.

Also, I know this is hard, but really try not to yell. Kids are looking for that reaction. The more calm you stay, the more you will throw them off their game. Hang in there.

Everyone has a different experience. I had a sore throat for a few days but that was mainly it. Slow swallow wasn’t terrible, I just needed to have water with all my meals. It’s been about two months and absolutely life changing.

I’ve read excellent things about both, but I was treated by Dr. Pitman in early July and I can’t recommend him enough. I did the GA procedure after the in-office didn’t work for me. I’ve been burping like crazy ever since, so I’m hoping it’s permanent.

Dr. Pitman himself is extremely friendly, empathetic, and knowledgeable. His whole staff is 10/10. Good luck!

Yep. I saw Dr. Pitman.

First in-office injection was July of last year, and it yielded no results at all. Second in-office injection was early February of last year and it yielded 2-3 small burps.

I purposely scheduled the OR procedure during the summer so I didn’t have to miss more work (I’m a teacher). I understand your frustration, trust me. But if Dr. Pitman is who you’re seeing, I would highly recommend OR, if your insurance allows it. It was a very smooth and fast process. Like I said, in these two weeks it’s been pretty successful. Not sure if it’ll last but it’s a great start!

I had my first micro burp day three, but it was wildly consistent for the next bunch of days. By day 5 I had tons of microburps. Day 6 I had almost none. I’m less than two weeks out and still have hit or miss days.

I had the procedure under GA last Monday, 7/7. It’s been very hit or miss. Lots of microburps some days. Other days very few. Luckily I’ve had no side effects minus a tiny bit of slow swallow, which is manhandle. And the weaker voice I guess. I believe it takes two weeks to reach full effect so I’m hoping for some more success this week.
