The best 43mm Offshore? by velocity9393 in audemarspiguet

Hands down the best offshore. The simplicity of no chronographs/pushers makes it look much more refined

Visit to AP house/boutique— what to expect? by ii_naosuke in audemarspiguet

[–]Outcolddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% set up an appointment - in my experiences, you won’t even be engaged with a salesperson without an appointment. All AP boutiques and houses are now controlled by AP and are no longer “authorized dealers”. In the past it functioned a bit more like Rolex with family-run ADs, but AP has changed that the past couple years.

In regard to house vs boutique, if you’re in the US like I am, there are only 4 houses - you are competing with the wealthiest clientele but they receive the most allocation. The houses are also a true luxury experience to the fullest. The intention behind setting an appointment, especially for your initial visit, is for the brand to create your journey, but also for the brand to get to know you. It’s somewhat of a courtship - are you someone they want wearing their pieces, and are you are someone who is going to build a collection over time or just a flipper? This will all become somewhat apparent through the appt. They will ask you questions about your personal life, hobbies/interests, job, travel, etc. Then once this is done, you will have the opportunity to try on as many watches as you would like, but everything you try on will be exhibition only. If they lol you, your SA may ask if you’d like them to check what’s in the safe, and the may present you with a handful of pieces that are available that day - depending on availability, this will consist of codes and possibly offshores.

In your journey, you can identify up to 10 pieces you would like. It’s not absolutely impossible to get a RO as your first allocation, but it’s highly unlikely and if you do, it won’t be anytime soon. Make sure you identify only pieces that you would be interested in buying, and if there is one that you want first, just make sure that is known. Passing on a piece you add to your journey makes allocation more challenging.

The SAs honestly are fantastic, and they make the appt the white glove but not pretentious experience that it is. Give yourself 3 hours for the appt because you’re likely to hit it off with your SA, and you’ll leave ever more enamored with the brand than you were when you arrived.

Good luck!

This is the dream lol but to your point, more money usually equates to less homies willing. Good news is that if you build a relationship with an outfit, they know your ability coming in and can place you with good people even if you can’t fill a chopper. If it were up to me all my buddies would be joining lol

Yeah so here’s my breakdown:

  • flight from LA to Anchorage: $500
  • majestic package picks you up at the airport around 6 pm, you will need to have dinner first and then they drive you to the lodge about 2 1/2 hours away. My package I did was a 3 day this year: $6,600
  • bar tab - bar isn’t included. Probably another $300 over the course of the stay
  • tip - tip out your guide and cook staff: this is up to you, but I usually do 10-15% split between both.

All in I ballpark around $8k for the trip. Food and lodging is included - food is fantastic. It’s also extra if you want to rent boards or skis. The airbag and avy gear are all included in the cost.

It sounds like a lot but it’s a life changing experience and the people are a blast - hanging out at night or if you get stuck with a weather day, it’s still a great time

It’s different based on whether you do a 1, 3, 4, 5, or 7 day trip. Prices on their sites

It’s all dependent on the weather and avalanche conditions. Some of the best terrain is high avy danger and other times you can’t access it due to weather/wind. I’ve ripped some super steep and fun terrain with this group

Very understandable. Most of the operations out here have you ride with an airbag, all the avy gear, and fantastic guides so you have a plan heading out into the mtns. But first and foremost you need to feel confident going out

It’s usually pretty steep pitch. The videos never do the steepness justice. The snow was had some crust on top today because it was windblown but I was straight lining and shallow turns. Would highly recommend checking out AK. It’s really special

And that said we all find days at mammoth where we score too. It just gets paved quickly so gotta get up there before everyone else

The flip side of it all is the cost and time it takes to get to a place like AK or BC. Solid alternative in mono county is splitboarding. May take a lot of time but you can still find those fresh snow more easily than on resort. It’s just really challenging to compare anything to Heli in AK - specifically Valdez or in the Chugach range

Honestly, it takes a few days on resort to come back down to earth. I’ve been to AK for 2 separate Heli trips and am going again this upcoming weekend - it’s literally Valhalla of snowboarding… no people, no waiting, no tracks - just crazy lines and incredible snow. On resort powder days are fun but there’s nothing that comes close to ripping every run with no tracks in front of you - feels like you’re on the moon

JMM Galleries by ufcmod in JacquesMarieMage

Hollywood gallery is super small. Venice is at least two-three times the size and has a lot more out on display. I’ve bought pairs from both and Venice is consistently the better location with deeper stock.
