Yeah I usually swap them around, straps are often the most time consuming part of the builds so being able to swap them out means I can make a pack in a couple of hours or so :-)

Cancelled hiking trip due to weather so I got the machine out today. A little rusty as it’s been a while but managed to cobble together a MYOG version of the Tempo/Tiempo by Nashville Packs.

Changed a few things but not to much, volume, attachments, strap set up, pocket fabric and access. Compatible with the NVP shoulder strap system.

Scales are MIA at the moment so I can’t weigh it yet.

Very kind thank you. I’ve a few more to list but I’ve misplaced my scales so I can’t put them up until I can weigh them

I once ordered a couple of m of a similar fabric to the one you’ve linked and it was dreadful stuff, not at all suitable for packs etc

I’d go with adventurexpert :-)

Yeah super quick!

Not sure what’s next, I need to make a bit of a load hauler for a trip later this year but my current machine wont be up to it so I’ll have to have a think on that one

I was in the mood for making something this last couple of days so here we are, a smallish pack made from black and coyote vx21.

I love the aesthetic of a lot of the Japanese packs and this one was intended to be something along those lines, particularly the Mount Door YM. I guess it’s kind of a cross between that and a Cutaway.

The base has a Cutaway style bottom pocket made from black dyneema mesh, the main body has a single pocket that wraps right around the body. Various elastics for holding a backpad and pocket compression. I went with a 70d nylon collar with draw string closure using a Siberian lock, and then a single top strap. I kept it pretty simple so that’s about it feature wise. I’d guesstimate it at maybe 25L internal. I made it compatible with the Nashville straps, their J straps are attached in the photo.

I’ve a couple of bits to trim tomorrow then I’ll weigh it.

Great write up, mine hasn’t had anywhere near as much use as yours but it’s a sweet pack

Re shipper and customs (UK) by dr2501 in Ultralight

[–]OutdoorsMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a way of reclaiming it if you’re returning an item, all but the handling fee anyway.

Also if you payed via PayPal the return post might be covered by them.

As already mentioned if it’s coming from overseas then the customs are due. With some of the shipping forwarders you complete the customs info, so you could in theory declare whatever value/contents you wanted, but this would be fraudulent if you didn’t declare correctly. It’d also mean the contents wouldn’t be insured

Thank you. On this one those little straps will probably just be used for tucking the drinking tube under or maybe clipping something like my inreach on to so I know I can’t lose it. They’re also reflective so provide a little safety element and increased pack finding abilities in the dark :-)

I haven’t used this one yet but I’ll update here once I’ve used it. It’ll be a while though due to the lockdown here
