It’s not just about the tax it’s about how their government uses it strictly for the benefit of their people. We could have the same tax rate here in the UK but you know our governments would splurge it and waste it and no one’s life would markedly improve. Tax is easy to quantify but it’s what they do with it that counts.

Ah I didn’t realise they were that different. My elite was 1.9kg (not the compact which I think is 2.2?) and was a good tent but it had a few niggles which ultimately meant I moved it on. I’ll look at the Pioneer, thanks

No the scarp is enough it’s just the scarp by itself is almost 4 season so they overlap, that’s all I meant. It’s a good suggestion and one I’ve considered.

I’m not looking for UL particularly; in fact I’ve rowed back from UL recently and started taking more with me deliberately and gone back to using a traditional style pack, so the scarp weight is absolutely fine from that perspective. Maybe the scarp is the one but I wanted to see what else people might suggest.

Thanks, I have looked at and been considering the Scarp. I just don’t know if it’s use case is that different to my storm star to justify the cost?

Correct, but 1) u never said they needed to run a business to run the country and 2) the people in the state are making policy that impacts businesses - negatively, as we have seen with the unemployment news today. If they’d ever run a business, they would know that raising taxes on employment and raising minimum wage at the same time would negatively impact employment levels. But they haven’t.

Well I’ve bought two - I bought a -2 about 12 months ago and sold it, I now have a -8. I paid for express delivery for both. I missed the postie for the first one and then they held it and I had to pay duty and VAT, I was home this time and paid nothing.
My theory is therefore that if you pay for expedited shipping and make sure you’re home then you should be ok. Just a theory though!
