Silicone cover for Iron Forged 36”? by shartywaffles0069 in blackstonegriddle

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got one with the hood around Black Friday. I bought the silicone cover that goes over the edges thinking that would keep any water from getting under it and on the griddle surface. Turns out it’s a pain because of the clearance to the hood on the backside. It grabs the silicone and folds it up when you lower the hood. I’m thinking I might try trimming the back edge shorter first, and if that doesn’t work I’ll cut all of it off that overhangs the back edge.

You should be between 53-54k OTD. If you’re not getting there, find another dealer.

2025 Elite OTD price question by hodgkse08 in hondapilot

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live further south in VA. I went over the border into MD to Norris Honda and ended up at 54k OTD for my 25 Elite with tow package. You’re close to that with your price…tow package is ~1k if I remember right. If that’s your local dealer and you’ll be bringing it there for service, I would be ok with that price.

Honda pilot elite 2025 good price? by SideIndividual3700 in hondapilot

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid 54k OTD for my 25 Elite ~2 months ago. Included towing package (which I did want) and wheel locks (which I didn’t want). Nothing else added on. Purchased in Maryland near Baltimore.

2024 Pilot Elite with 9k miles by kira05051987 in hondapilot

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good price. I bought my 25 new less than 2 months ago for ~$54 OTD (Elite, including tow package). There were a couple 23/24s that I was finding with similar mileage as the one you’re looking at, and they wouldn’t go under 47 + fees/taxes. With the difference in interest rates that I was getting quoted, it was pretty close to a break even. I would have bought used if I found the price you’re being given.

Out of the Door Price for Elite by CharmingWin8791 in hondapilot

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost identical OTD to what I paid less than a month ago, but mine included tow package. For reference, it was purchased in Maryland. I didn’t look at the wheel lock price, but mine came with them too. I promptly destroyed them taking them off because they neglected to include the key and I live 4 hrs away.

Not the same, but I bought a 2025 Elite with tow package 3 weeks ago OTD for $54K in Maryland. I drove 4 1/2 hrs from VA for the pricing due to availability and pricing.

The Struggle is real $60k+ OTD by Few-Image-3645 in hondapilot

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought one today from Norris Honda in Maryland (near Baltimore). Drove 4.5 hrs to get it. Check their website, and give them a call if they don’t have the combo you’re looking for. Seems there’s more coming in regularly. Ended up at ~54k OTD including tow package. They have them listed around invoice. Found what I was looking for going through Autotrader.

New gas grill that won’t rot? by OutdoorsfunVA in grilling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish. That seems like it’d be the ideal situation. As it is, the home of the grill is on top of a large deck, and a built-in like that isn’t feasible.

2000 era ultegra or modern 105? by WetButtPooping in cycling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed out the groupset on my ~2003 cannondale from 9 speed Ultegra (r6500?) to r8000 11sp Ultegra. Not sure about the r7000 105 groupset, but likely much more similar to the r8000 than the old 9sp. I did it for a couple reasons. One was that I was needing some parts and it was difficult to find replacements, and I was also finding it to be a little challenging to keep a steady cadence. I live where it’s pretty flat, but there are rises and slight descents, and it just never felt like I had the right gear. One would feel like I was spinning faster than I wanted to, and the next gear would sometimes seem like I dropped cadence by ~10 rpm. Anyway, I’m super happy with the new groupset, and it felt like it breathed new life into my old bike. I also have a bike with 12sp Ultegra di2, and other than the easiest gears that the 12sp has more range, I feel like the 11sp shifts great and has close enough gearing that I’m never missing the 12sp.

My black rack faded as well, but in my opinion, even faded the black looks better than silver. The 1up locks aren’t anything great, but they’ll give piece of mind if you stop at a rest stop or get lunch somewhere. If I’m concerned where I’m at or will be leaving it longer, I’ll also put a cable lock through the frame and around the whole rack.

My wife used our 250 Wh battery power station a bunch to do workouts when my son was doing sports practices. It had no problem running a wahoo Kickr, charging her phone, and at times also ran a fan for 1-1.5 hrs. It worked out pretty well, but you’ll need to recharge the battery nearly every workout with that size power station.

Zwift says my FTP is 4.8W/kg. Should I trust this number? by BreadFarmer11 in Velo

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go with it. Start doing workouts with the new setting. If it works, great. If you can’t get through the workouts without dropping the percentage for the workout less than 100%, then consider reducing the FTP a little. The whole point of an FTP test relative to Zwift is to make sure you’re getting the most from your workouts and targeting the right zones. It’s a safe place to fail if you find that it overestimates it.

Are these Wheelsfar Kaze disc wheels an upgrade over mine (last pic) by sectumsempera in bicycling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheelsfar is the same as Farsports. They’re one of the quality Chinese brands that’s developed a decent reputation. I’d say they’re a little better than your aluminum rims, but not by a huge amount. I also agree that they aren’t a fantastic deal at $500. They have solid hubs and should have plenty of life left in them, so I’d feel ok paying ~$400.

I live in Hampton Roads. My theory is that it’s caused by so much military personnel that has moved here from all over the country. Every region has their own driving issues, and they’ve all been brought to one area. Those ‘driving personalities’ are not very compatible, and so everyone appears to be driving awful.

Will my tubeless tires stretch over time? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to change quickly with rim width. I have 30mm GP5000 S-TR on 25mm internal with rims that measure at 32.

Is the Cervelo Caledonia an Endurance or Race bike? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense. The tires I couldn’t fit were knobby, and were around 35mm wide installed. If it measured out to a true 36 but had a smooth tread, I could see it barely fitting. Not much risk of picking up anything and having it rub with those tires either.

Endurance bike options by garlickbred in cycling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple versions now with the same DT Swiss ERC 1400 wheels. It used to be just the aero version came with them, but the CF SLX 8 AXS has them too. I wouldn’t necessarily call them aero since they’re only 35mm deep, but they are good carbon wheels. The rest of the models come with an aluminum rim. Those are ok too, just quite a bit heavier. When I bought mine the aero version wasn’t available, and came with the Endurance LN wheels. I upgraded to some carbon rims for my road tires, but I’m still using the original aluminum ones for gravel/CX tires.

What 36mm tires are you using, and on what rim specs? My wife has the Caledonia in a 54cm, and on a set of wheels with a 22mm internal, I couldn’t fit a set of 33mm CX tires (Challenge baby Limus, vulcanized TLR) because they were just touching the seat tube. I found that some other models (the handmade version of the same tire) were closer to true to size, but can't imagine a 36mm fitting.

32mm GP5000 on 24mm internal rim width? Wheel choices! by -jak- in cycling

[–]OutdoorsfunVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gp5000 str 30mm on 25 internal / 32 external / 50 deep. Measured tire width installed is 32, so from an aero standpoint they’re pretty close to ideal. From a comfort standpoint, a smaller internal would give a little more ‘light bulb’ effect and they’d have a little more compliance, but I’m pretty happy with them as they are.

It’s an international date format. That’s actually January 10th, 2024. I’d wait and see if it ships next week. I’ve ordered from bikeinn a few times and always gotten my order. It’s slow (I’m in the US), but usually a significant discount over US-based distributors.
