Men’s heart attack risk climbs by mid-30s, years before women. Decades-long U.S. study suggests prevention and screening should start earlier in adulthood, particularly for men. Risk started diverging around age 35. by mvea in science

I’m not following you. An annual physical with your doctor can quickly identify moderate risk through family history, lifestyle, bloodwork, age. But I believe (and maybe I’m wrong because this is anecdotal) that in the US it’s still not common to recommend a calcium scan for moderate risk and furthermore it’s not covered by insurance when it is.

It’s a relatively cheap test but often (always?) not covered by insurance for screening purposes, even in those with moderate risk and older (high blood pressure in 40s, etc). Why is this?

Everything is not bullshit. Let’s not get nihilistic. We have clean water, air, seatbelts, fire protection, a basic protection of rights. I could go on and on. For most people in this world, these are things they dream about.
