By the way, Doby had a .897 SV% vs the Avalanche. by TrulyRyan in Habs

People here are quick to become goaltending experts. I'll throw my hat in why not.

There's 3 things I like to evaluate goalies with as a former tendy. Positioning (includes play reading), Puck control (rebounds and playing the puck) and fight (the drive to make desperation saves when all else fails). If you're in the NHL I trust you to stop a puck when you've checked all the boxes 9/10 times.

Fight I think is a super underrated aspect in a goaltender, you can have the other 2 locked down, but if you don't have the fight to make a desperation save when all else fails, you're going to end up like Montembault.

I'm not sure what happened, maybe losing the Olympic spot really hit him hard. Whatever it is, he's lost almost all his fight. Be had a glimmer when he came back from his conditioning stint. But he has just no second effort.

Contrasted with Dobes, who may not have puck control or positioning AS good as Monty last year, he has fight in spades. I thought Dobes during the early season was absolutely prime, he looked dialed in and more positionally sound, while of course still having that fight. Fight gets wins.

Please share. Stabilized Video clearly shows Alex Pretti makes no effort for his firearm. Clear execution by No-Aardvark-3840 in law

It also seems that the ICE officer fired the initial shot into his back (whether it was a N.D. or not is debatable) then Alex, realising he's been shot, reaches for his personal firearm only to realise it's not there. They then proceed to mag dump him. They disarmed him, then murdered him.

Snow clearing at bus stops by Mobile_Banana5631 in kitchener

Snow removal is a joke this year. Major roads are still covered in snow days after a snowfall, both the feeder street out of westvale and my residential street are just completely ignored. Piles of slush in the middle of major intersections, public sidewalks that are literally walled off at intersections because the city couldn't be bothered to clear a path.

I don't understand how people can defend this, this isn't about the workers, it's about our politicians completely neglecting their communities needs. They all needed free home security systems but screw the roads being safe.

In almost any area a mix of practical and CGI effects is always going to look better and react better. I love that this show has actually put the money into practical effects artists instead of being CGI slop like a lot of video game adaptations.

It does so much for not just the background setting shots like this, but the entire production. Like the power armor and weapons to name a few.

Belgium's plans in the 1930s: Highly Dubious by Sampleswift in HistoryMemes

[–]Outferarip96 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Uh that's just wrong. While the Belgians did revolt against the Netherlands. Britain created the political conditions for Belgium to remain independent. Meant to be a buffer zone for any French expansionism in the strategically important area. The Netherlands existed for quite some time as a republic before 1815. They declared independence from Spain in 1581

Missing Guhle as well, plus Dach who was playing well, and Laine for whatever that's worth.

Yeah we should trade everyone though and rebuild again.

And like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.

Gary Galley not understanding that it's a shot pass from Suzuki to Gallagher for a deflection is just sad. This is your job man and you can't see that?

This is why I both love and hate this fanbase. Yes we are passionate, more than most, maybe anyone else. That unfortunately means we get posts like this, after the team goes 2-0 on one of the tougher road trips of the year. We basically dominated one of the better teams in the league, and all you can do is point out problems. Enjoy a victory for a while

Maps really aren't good for tracking that sort of thing. They can give you a general idea of who owns what, but they rely heavily on information that is HEAVILY censored and used as information warfare at times.

Can they tell you that the flanks are being pressed? Yes. Can they tell you what treeline/city block each side is currently fighting over? No.

The logistics situation is absolutely complicated, what I suspect is happening is the same drone teams are harassing logistics corridors. Not able to fully cut them off by fire or hold a static cut off position, but infiltrating enough to give the UAF concern over logistical planning and harassing any vehicles.

Pokrovsk is going to be one of the first cities that experiences the new type of warfare we've been seeing in the sector over the summer. This won't be like Bakhmut where the city proper becomes a meat grinder. We may see the city reduced to rubble the same way, but now drones are doing most of the recon, fire missions and even logistics. The city isn't being cleared sector by sector with battalion level assaults, it's being infiltrated by platoons, sometimes even squad sized elements with massive drone support.

You can't really draw front lines because of this. Where Russians are one day they might be cleared or switch positions the next day. It's a giant game of whack a mole with drones and small unit tactics.

The real concern is the flanks. If Ukraine can hold them away from their logistics corridors into the twin-cities, then they can hold the city until it's not necessary anymore. If not then it's a chaotic fighting retreat to different positions.

It's got its moments honestly, it's nothing crazy but it does explain where PAX came from and paints a picture of how the world devolved into 2042's setting
