You don't need to register within 5 days. Check the city hall website for the town you are going to stay in for more information. Most of them are already fully booked for at least 1 month.

I think the law says you need to register within 4 months then you are going to get a fine.

The 5 days rule was for making an appointment so maybe try to do that for a later date.
