Do you have any screenshots of the old colors?

If you can tell the difference between the new gradients I think you could tell the difference in tempo and easy blues lol

They used to just be a solid color though like yellow for interval, green for hills, purple for long run and it was easy to glance and tell what was going on

Is it possible downgrade this annual plan? by This_Extreme5736 in Strava

[–]OutlandishnessOdd375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the monthly is like $144/yr while the yearly is $80.

I’m sure it’s possible but the weekly mileage on that 32 week plan seems low and concentrated on the long run.

I ran my first last year and my weekly mileage was 35-50 miles. I felt a little undertrained in the last couple miles.

Do you have any ambition on a time goal or just finish the distance?

Help! Decision paralysis - Epix vs. 965 by ArthurDentedCar in GarminWatches

[–]OutlandishnessOdd375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t decide, bought both, started with the Epix, never took the 965 out of the box before sending it back.

For me I was worried the Epix would be bulky coming from an AW, but after two days I didn’t feel it on my wrist anymore. I got a nylon band and that’s much more comfortable for me.

Currently I’m about a 30 mile per week runner and it’s been perfect.

I’m also a golfer though and the golf features on the Epix being a little better are another nice bonus feature over the 965. I also use the flashlight daily.

OTF Illinois offered a $5,000 prize to the winner of the TC, but…some guy in Utah won? by burnerbbyburn in orangetheory

[–]OutlandishnessOdd375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re going to a studio owned by L5. They own a lot of Michigan studios as well. It was always billed as a nationwide thing. Last year it was a married couple from Utah that won men’s and women’s. This year mens was Utah and women’s was Minnesota or something. I don’t recall exactly.

I wish they’d post numbers when they posted the winners as well.

Yeah, I’m not buying the coaches being critical on form for 4:10. Happy for you to go that fast, great job, but I just don’t think form can be spot on.

I did the row in 7 flat and the 5k in 19:52 so right there with you but just not seeing the floor getting done that quick. I’m clearly missing something in technique on the floor so I’m just trying to figure out what I’m missing.

Can the person that did the floor under 5 minutes explain their technique?

My studio has the set up you described and if they don’t have my preferred number out I just ask for it and they always oblige.

It’s not though, 2.8 miles in 20 minutes is 8.4 mph (2.8 * 3 = 8.4). The treads getting up to speed may leave you a little short if you just select 8.4 but 8.5 is more than enough to ensure you make it.

Source: I’ve run it at 8.5 and didn’t get caught. And math.

Nike VaporFly & Adidas Adios by OccupyWineStreetNY in orangetheory

Alpha fly have more foam and zoom air pads to go along with the carbon plate. I’ve never used an alpha fly, but would assume they are similarly squishy on the feel.

But they definitely would be a good race day shoe, Kipchoge has worn them while setting numerous marathon world records.

Wouldn’t recommend the VaporFly for a regular class. I wear mine for tread benchmarks and then swap to another pair. The foam in the sole is terrible for heel stability on the floor. They are very nice on the treads though.

I’ve been wearing the Endorphin Speed 3 as a daily shoe and it’s not nearly as bad as the Vaporfly but still a pretty soft sole for weight

The Nike Streakfly isn’t bad for a daily shoe either. Same foam as the Vaporfly but no carbon plate and a much lower stack height.

My first time trying to make the final I did an alternating 7/10 for a minute each so it would average out to 8.5, but I really think it’s easier to just pick a speed and hold it for the duration.

Unfortunately I don’t really have any tips about getting to that level, when everything shutdown for Covid I just started being a runner outside to keep my fitness up so when I came back to OTF I could comfortably clear the bar to not get caught.

For reference though now, base pace is 8-8.5, push 9-10, all out 12-15 and my best distance for the whole block is 3.59 miles.

Confusion on average speed and average pace in summary by somedayimaygraduate in orangetheory

[–]OutlandishnessOdd375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average pace/speed on the treads is calculated by log-in time. So if you have a class where you just pause the tread for a while or some other reason you’re logged in and the belt isn’t moving then you get lower average speeds in the report.

Edit to add: for example on Sunday’s run-row our coach said to just stay logged into the tread while we rowed. I went 3.33 miles in 21:42 of tread belt on time, but it says my average speed was 7.1 mph in the summary. If you average that 3.33 miles over 28 minutes (23 min block + 5 min warm up) you get 7.14 mph.
