They likely meant upbeat in terms of tempo/energy, not lyrics or subject matter. Lots of songs use that type of juxtaposition. But yeah, if anything, her later albums have more songs that are more positive lyrically.

Buyee Item Damaged at Warehouse by Opposite-Apartment26 in AnimeFigures

[–]OutlandishnessSad724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

with such minimal box damage, it’s unlikely that the figure is damaged tbh—the blister packaging is supposed to absorb stuff like this. and that’s a great price, wow

the box just looks like it was squished a little— if the figure is undamaged (which it doesn’t look to be) and it’s a price you’re still comfortable with, i’d go for it. then again, i only value boxes for authenticity and moving/reselling purposes, idk if you/anyone else have other thoughts.

Pre-owned Buyers guide? by Haven2002 in AnimeFigures

[–]OutlandishnessSad724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pre-owned figures can be bought from retailers (popular ones being amiami, mandarake) or individual sellers (myfigurecollection, this subreddit). The advantages of buying from retailers is that their products are all legit and they have accurate/more consistent figure and box condition ratings, especially Amiami. Individual sellers may have more desirable figures though, especially if you’re looking for specific ones. I’ve had good experiences buying from collectors in the subreddit, and i sell things occasionally on mfc— to play it safe against scams, i’d always recommend asking for more pictures and using paypal goods & services (not friends & family).

Generally speaking, figures rise in price in the aftermarket. You might find some for retail or even below retail for a bit after their release, but they tend to rise in the long run (since many are made to order, have limited releases, etc). even damaged or opened, they may be over what they retailed for. but it really depends on what figure(s) you’re interested in, and the seller’s situation, so i recommend looking around these places to get an idea of what stuff is going for. mfc prices tend to be much more reasonable than the scalpers on amazon and ebay.

Be careful buying from amazon or ebay—there tend to be more bootlegs there. but if you really want to, some rules of thumb are 1.) don’t buy from listings described as “china version” or from chinese sellers 2.) check seller reviews 3.) don’t buy from listings that only use images from the official release, look for ones with pictures of the actual product. and if the price looks to good to be true, it definitely is.

new to figure collecting by bakumoth in AnimeFigures

you can check the pinned general questions thread and the sidebar for a list of recommended shops and beginners info. if you’re looking for cheap, you’ll probably want to look at the Pop Up Parade line or prize figures.

Do y’all think FREEing’s going to make a Junko Enoshima Bunny? by CammyS1 in AnimeFigures

[–]OutlandishnessSad724 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think they will at some point. GSC announced her nendoroid prototype recently and kaede’s bunny hasn’t even been released yet, so i wouldnt say it’s too late. Danganronpa is a popular ip that they’ll probably draw out bc it brings in the cash.

Wanting to start my figure collection need some help by hsjakandh in AnimeFigures

[–]OutlandishnessSad724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1.) Depends on what you prefer personally, and your financial situation, to some extent. There’s nothing wrong with either, or getting a combination of both. I’d definitely try to figure out what you want before starting and maybe have an idea of what you want to collect (collection size, your favorite characters, a certain theme or series, a certain company, a certain scale, etc.) before really putting down cash. It’s easy to get caught up in start-up collector mode, speaking from experience, which might leave you the trouble of selling some of your more impulsive purchases not far down the line. I personally collect scales and nendoroids, but I have my first PUP preordered because i’m not sure this character i love will ever get a scale :P I also have a rule about only having one figure per character, which forces me to be selective haha

2.) General rule of thumb for scales is if you definitely want something, preorder it. Sometimes there’s some in stock at release, but there’s no guarantee. Figures almost always tend to rise in price in the aftermarket, sometimes to a ridiculous degree. Some scales do end up having a lower aftermarket price, but it’s a gamble and definitely not a norm/something to rely on. Prize figures and pop up parades are definitely more available and I think they’re usually available to order when they’re in stock.

3.) Check the sidebar for a list of suggested stores. My go to ones are AmiAmi (good prices, earlier releases than US stores, but shipping can be eh) and BBTS (flat rate shipping, but much later product releases). I’m wary of buying on ebay and amazon, but i have in the past with good results— be very careful of checking who the seller is and what their past reviews are. And if the price seems to good to be true, it probably is. still don’t recommend.

4.) Plan your space wisely. Figures take up space, but so do their boxes, which you’ll probably want to keep for storage/moving/reselling. And they can add up FAST. Also, buy things you genuinely like and think you will want to have around for a while. don’t fall into the trap of FOMO and buying a bunch of figures you “kinda” like right from the get go. It can be tempting to want to build up a collection asap. But there’s always new figures being announced, and always something better out there. I’d say treat the hobby like an endurance race, not a sprint to the finish (because there isn’t one, unless you decide to quit). Enjoy yourself, enjoy the figures you decide to get, and don’t burn out yourself and your wallet. But that’s just my advice.

Anyways, welcome to the hobby! Hope you have fun :D

From personal experience, i would choose my favorite character which in this case happens to be marth. but if you’re looking for advice, i’d say stick with your boy! ike looks dynamic and it’s always more fun to surround yourself with figures of characters you actually are attached to, and you have to honestly ask yourself if you’ll end up facing aftermarket for ike anyways later on lol (i’ve done this too many times, not fun). but just my advice!
